The Menagerie is a building that can be found inside your Garrison in Warlords of Draenor. This building is unlike other buildings, as every player will have one. This building is also unusual because it has a preset location and cannot be moved from that location. This building allows you to gain access to specific Draenor pets and compete in Pet Battles.

Unlocking the Menagerie

The Menagerie will probably be one of the last “set” buildings you unlock. The reason for this is because it requires a Level 3 Garrison and have obtained at least level 98. Once you have upgraded your Garrison to Level 3, the quest Pets Versus Pests will become available. You can find this quest at the location of your future Menagerie.

This quest will require you to defeat 3 battle pets inside your Garrison:

  • Carrotus Maximus
  • Gorefu
  • Gnawface

Each of these little guys will be wandering in specific locations in your Garrison and are level 25. This means you will have to have some Pet Battle experience before you take them on. Once you have defeated these three, head back to turn in the quest and unlock your Menagerie!

Leveling Up the Menagerie

After you have unlocked your Menagerie, two more upgrades are available to the building.

Level 2

To upgrade your Menagerie to Level 2, you will need to purchase the Garrison Blueprint: Menagerie, Level 2 from Sparz Boltwist (Alliance) or Rezlak (Horde). Both NPCs can be found inside your Garrison Townhall, near the Architect Table. The Level 2 Blueprint will cost you exactly 1,000 Gold.

After the Blueprint has been purchased, head back to the Architect Table. An upgrade option should now be available for the Menagerie. Dish out another 300 Gold and 50 Garrison Resources and the upgrade process will begin. Upgrading the Menagerie to Level 2 will take approximately 1 hour.

Level 3

To upgrade the Menagerie to Level 3, you will once again need to purchase some blueprints. However, there is a small catch. Before you can purchase the blueprints you will need to complete the Draenic Pet Battler achievement. This achievement requires you to win 150 Pet Battles in Draenor. You will also need to be Level 100.

Once this achievement has been earned, the blueprints will unlock and you can purchase them for 1,000 Gold from Sparz or Rezlak. Go to the Architect Table, shell out 500 Gold and 100 Garrison Resources to begin the upgrade process. Upgrading to a Level 3 Menagerie will take 1 hour.

Menagerie Perks

The Menagerie will, much like other buildings inside your Garrison, offer up various perks at Level 1 and beyond. Each new level will bring new and better perks. The perks you can expect are:

  • Level 1 – Attracts elite pets you can battle for rewards. Lets 5 Battle Pets roam your Garrison.
  • Level 2 – Increases your trap chance and reduces the cooldown on Revive Battle Pets while in Dreanor. 10 Battle Pets can now roam your Garrison.
  • Level 3 – A Pet Battle Daily Quest now provides unique pet related rewards.

Menagerie Daily Quests

A Daily Quest for your Menagerie is unlocked at Level 1. At Level 2, the Daily Quest remains the same, however, at Level 3 the quest is upgraded to provide you with a better reward.

Level 1 and 2 Daily Quests

The Daily Quest at Level 1 and 2 is Battle Pet Roundup for Alliance and Scrappin' for Horde. These quests require you to defeat random teams of legendary pets. The pets you will have to defeat are on a round-robin type of schedule. All teams consist of level 25 pets, none of which can be captured. The teams of pets are as follows:

  • Brutus and Rukus
  • Quintessence of Light
  • Grubbles, Scrags, and Stings
  • Eleanor
  • Manos, Hanos, and Fatos
  • Tirs and Fiero
  • Jahan, Samm, and Archimedes
  • Rockbiter, Stonechewer, and Acidtooth
  • Deebs, Tyri, and Puzzle
  • Kromli and Gromli
  • Stitches Jr.
  • Queen Floret and King Floret
  • The Beakinator
  • Mr. Terrible, Carroteye, and Sloppus
  • Blingtron 4999b, Protectron 011803, and Protectron 022481

Level 3 Daily Quest

At Level 3 the Daily Quest is upgraded and changes it's name from the Level 1 and 2 version. While the name and rewards have changed, the quest is essentially the same. You will need to defeat a random team from the list above. The upgraded reward is a Big Bag of Pet Supplies. This bag contains 8 Pet Charms, contains a Battle-Training Stone, and has the potential to contain one of several pets:

  • Albino Chimaeraling
  • Firewing
  • Ghastly Kid
  • Puddle Terror
  • Sun Sproutling
  • Sunfire Kaliri
  • Weebomination

Menagerie Pet Charms

Each time you complete the Daily Quest you will receive 8 Pet Charms. These Charms can be used to purchase items for your pets. Items can be purchased from Lio the Lioness (Alliance) or Serr'ah (Horde). Both NPCs carry the following items:

  • Battle Pet Bandages – 5 Pet Charms
  • Mystery Bag – 2 Pet Charms
  • Flawless Battle-Training Stone – 2 Pet Charms
  • Magical Pet Biscuit – 5 Pet Charms
  • Magical Mini-Treat – 5 Pet Charms
  • Lesser Pet Treat – 5 Pet Charms
  • Pet Treat – 10 Pet Charms
