Guide to Ered Luin
By Darkgolem
Ered Luin is a low level area found in the westernmost part of Middle
Earth. Occupied by two dwarven settlements, two elven settlements
and a large group of goblins, this region is full of opportunities for
adventure for all of the free peoples. The

quest prologue is found here, in addition to many local and
crafting quests.
The area of Ered Luin can be best divided into three regions. The
southern portion is made up of green fields and light woodlands, dotted
with ruins, and has two elven settlements, known as
href="http://lotro.tentonhammer.com/index.php?module=ContentExpress&func=display&ceid=393">
style="font-weight: bold;">Falathlorn.
The northeastern portion, known as
href="http://lotro.tentonhammer.com/index.php?module=ContentExpress&func=display&ceid=394">
style="font-weight: bold;">Haudh Lin, is wild and heavily
wooded, heavily populated by wild animals and some fell beasts.
It also contains the river port of Kheledul, presently in control of
the Dourhand Dwarves, who are hostile to other groups.
Northwestern Ered Luin is made up of the
href="http://lotro.tentonhammer.com/index.php?module=ContentExpress&func=display&ceid=394">
style="font-weight: bold;">Vale of the Thrain, a snowy
region with some ruins and wild beasts, and an area surrounding a large
(friendly) dwarven outpost Gondamon. In the southern portion of
this are, below Gondamon are the crags of Rath Teraig, haunted by
goblins, spiders and cavern crawlers. Rath Teraig can be reached
from the northwestern portion of Falathlorn and south of Gondamon.
To the west, Ered Luin connects with the Shire. To the North,
from the Vale of the Thrain, one can reach Thorins Gate, and the
closest city of the region, Thorins Hall. A complete list
of deeds for Ered Luin can be found

Crafting in Ered Luin
Ered Luin supports all forms of crafting except for Farming. Of
course, this makes cooking more difficult, but you can find crops in
Falathlorn. No crops are found in northern Ered Luin.
Mining and Woodworking are both available. If it is nescessary to
get any particular equipment or supplies you cannot find, the best
place to check is Thorin's Hall, found north of Ered Luin past Thorin's
Gate, though this is costly because of the auction house prices.

Regions of Ered Luin
Falathlorn
Falathlorn is made up
2 elvish settlements, and several notable ruins
and areas. It has modest supplies of crafting raw materials such
as rowan wood, bee honey and copper. To the northeast, along the
border of the river Lune, is a bridge leading to the Shire. At
the northwest of Falathlorn is an entrance to Rath Teraig, though this
area is not guarded by those of the Free Peoples, but instead
garrisoned by goblins.
Celondim is the southernmost settlement of Falathlorn. It has all
class trainers, a banker, craft supply merchants, and, excepting a
farming crafter, all craft trainers. There is also a stables
available for fast transit.
To the west of Celondim is Neth Hilith (a wooded area, with wolves,
boars and insects), and to the far west of Neth Hilith is a tree yard
which must be visited for the "In Need of a Cask" quest.
Northwest of
Celondim is Tham Gelar, an ancient ruin inhabited by wolves.
North of Celondim, on the western shore of the river Lune is Duillond,
the second elvish settlement of Falathlorn. At Duillond are found
several merchants with weapons and armor, and several craft areas
(benches, etc). West of Duillond are three important areas.
Northeast of Duillond is an southern entrance to Rath Teraig.
Also you can find Dol Ringwest, a ruins where many goblins are
found. Finally, to the southwest of Duillond is Limraels
Vineyard, another quest area, with a population of goblins. The
bridge to the Shire is found at
Duillond also.
A complete list of quests for Falathlorn is available

Haudh Lin
Haudh Lin is a wild and dangerous portion of Ered Luin, inhabited by
many dangerous and aggressive animals and creatures. There are 2
friendly outposts here, the dwarven outpost of Gondamon and Thrasi's
hunting lodge. Thrasi's hunting lodge is not shown on the map
until
found by traveling there, but it is located at r1 lx526 ly1027
ox129.69 oy77.88 oz462.01 h181.4,
within easy sight of the main north south road in Ered Luin.
Aside from these marks of civilization, there are some ruins located in
the north eastern portion of Haudh Lin. The northernmost of these
ruins, Ringdale ( r1 lx508 ly1057 ox97.22 oy29.94 oz523.23 h16.9), is
another outpost of the hostile Dourhand dwarves, as an area to the east
of Ringdale, the Grimwater(r1 lx518 ly1064 ox124.18 oy0.37 oz483.16
h29.5). The final civilized area in Haudh Lin is Kheledul, a
river port located along the shore of the Lune, located due east of
Thrasi's hunting lodge. This area is occupied by the Dourhand
dwarves, and is very dangerous.
Near the Grimwater is a key ally, Glamir (loc r1 lx515 ly1054 ox73.03
oy133.08 oz497.02 h7.0), found in a ruin.
In addition to humanoid outposts and the places they occupy, there is
also two areas which contain other creatures in specific. One is
the
ruins located in the north west portion of Emyn Hoedh. This area
contains standing stones and many barrow wights, including some more
difficult types (2 person). The other is Talath Ondren,
containing
large groups of spiders. The missing cook quest leads you here.
Finally, the Wardspire, an elven monument you will want to find for the
Elven Ruins exploration deed is found at the far northeastern corner of
Haudh Lin.
All Haudh Lin quests are found

style="border: 2px solid ; width: 250px; height: 188px;" align="right">The
Vale of the Thrain is located west of Gondamon. It is rife with
bears, goblins, wild cats and vale prowlers. Vale prowlers are
hidden,
the best way to find them (there is quest which has you hunt them) is
to simply move, stand still and turn in all directions for a few
moments (you are more likely to see enemies that are hidden if you are
looking their direction) and then move again. Expect to fight a
lot of
animals while doing this.
On the western side of the vale there is the ruin of Orodost, which
contains many goblins. Bring a friend for questing here if you
should
have any quests that bring you here. Finally, there is Hunter's
Notch,
a hilly area found in the north east portion of the Vale of the
Thrain. All the bears that are located in the region of the vale
are
found here, and they are very numerous. Expect a lot of fighting
bears
when you enter here.
A dwarven outpost which oversees the security of the valley, called
Noglond is here, all the quests that are found relating to the Vale of
the Thrain are found
