Ten Ton Hammer's Inscription Guide

Inscription Guide (150-250)

Welcome to our next installment of the Inscription Powerleveling Guide. In here, we'll go from Emerald Pigment-based Herbs (sorry, not as valuable as an actual emerald!) to Silvery Pigment-based Herbs. In essence, this part of our guide will take you from 150 skill to 250 skill, and our final guide will cover from 250 to 350, getting you ready for Wrath of the Lich King's herbs and leveling!

Inscription Leveling: Emerald Pigment-based Herbs

First of all, make sure to keep up with your Common Parchments, enough to cover your leveling skills. 55 Common Parchments should do the trick, though if you uncover any valuable glyphs through your daily research, you might end up buying more.

Alright, let's make some Emerald Pigments. It's a lot easier than it sounds, for these you will need:

  • Fadeleaf
  • Goldthorn
  • Khadgar's Whisker
  • Wintersbite

As always, every 5 from any of the above will yield you a random amount of Pigments. It is recommended you mill enough herbs to atleast get 140 Emerald Pigments, keeping your Indigo Pigments as well should you have any.

With this giant set of Pigments, now we can focus on our actual leveling. Make 70 Jadefire Inks, which will hopefully get you all the way to skill level 155.

At skill level 155, you may create:

  • Glyph of Evocation
  • Glyph of Righteous Defense

This should put us at skill level 160, opening up new Glyphs to train and create:

  • Glyph of Gouge
  • Glyph of Renew

At 165, even more Glyphs pop up, giving us a clear way to skill level 170! Who said leveling this profession was hard?

  • Glyph of Shadowbolt
  • Glyph of Strength of Earth Totem

At skill level 170, we only have 1 new Glyph, but this will carry us to skill 175 just fine

  • Glyph of Overpower

Once more, at skill level 175 we get new Glyphs to make:

  • Glyph of Aimed Shot

At skill 180, we have three options to make:

  • Glyph of Shadow Word: Pain
  • Glyph of Cleansing
  • If you have enough Indigo Pigments, you can make Royal Ink to level yourself up some, although it IS a royal pain to obtain enough of these to make them useful!

Almost there! At skill level 185, we get the Glyph Options:

  • Glyph of Frost Shock
  • Glyph of Sap

Covered enough skills already? not quite! we have 2 more options at skill level 190 to carry us smoothly to skill level 200:

  • Glyph of Revenge
  • Glyph of Voidwalker

Alternatively, if you want a change of pace, you can fill in with some Arcane Tarot cards - use your Royal Inks and Jadefire Inks to make these Tarot cards that will help you skill up if you have enough Royal Inks.

Phew! Congratulations, you are now at skill level 200, halfway there!

Inscription Leveling: Violet Pigment-based herbs

It's time to make more new pigments. Violet pigment gives you a lot of different herb options to mill, making it one of the easiest stages in our leveling process as far as Herb acquisition goes (as if it had been hard before!)

Violet Pigment Herbs include the following:

  • Firebloom
  • Purple Lotus
  • Arthas's Tears
  • Sungrass
  • Blindweed
  • Ghost Mushroom
  • Gromsblood

You should mill enough so that you obtain at least 110 Violet Pigments. Keep the Ruby Pigments for a bit, you might use them for alternate leveling, but it will more than likely not be necessary. Better safe than sorry, though!

First things first, make ALL your Violet Pigments into Celestial Ink, which will take us to skill level 205.

Next up, we make more Glyphs!

  • Glyph of Improved Scorch
  • Glyph of Consecration

We are now at Skill Level 210. Time to make new Glyphs:

  • Glyph of Sinister Strike
  • Glyph of Smite

This will take us to skill level 215. More new Glyphs appear, making our way to 220 quite simple:

  • Glyph of Healing Stream Totem
  • Glyph of Searing Pain

At skill level 220, we have 2 more different Glyphs to pick from:

  • Glyph of Barbaric Insults
  • Glyph of Starfire

At skill level 225, we have the option of making Fiery Ink, which will allow us later on to make Weapon Vellum if we're so inclined. If you were lucky enough to get enough Ruby Pigments to make Fiery Inks, go ahead and cook up a batch as big as you can afford of the incredible Fiery Ink (one has to wonder how it burns yet stays as a liquid, lava perhaps?)

The other option, is, you guessed it, more Glyphs!

  • Glyph of Ice Block

This should set us at skill level 230, 20 away from our goal this time. We have a new glyph open, so let's use that for 5 skillups:

  • Glyph of Dispel Magic

Next, we have 2 new Glyphs to create all the way to 240:

  • Glyph of Lesser Healing Wave
  • Glyph of Slice and Dice

Finally, to reach our destination of skill level 250, we have 3 options:

  • Glyph of Cleaving
  • Glyph of Soulstone (Requires 2 Celestial inks per)
  • Use your Fiery Inks to create Weapon Vellum II and fill in whatever skillups you need to hit 250. If you got enough Ruby Pigments, this option exists now. Sell it to Enchanters!

This leaves us at skill level 250, and ready to tackle on the next set of Herbs (Silvery) in our next update! Stay tuned as we continue our Inscription leveling guide here at TenTonHammer!
