Quest 4:
Whisperdoom's Spawn

Whisperdoom is a well known enemy within the DDO community.
Originally found here in the Assault on Splinterskull quest chain, DDO
players would enter her quest and (with difficulty) defeat her for
fun.  This was not how she was intended to be dealt with
originally by the developers, she was meant to be undefeatable, and
since the release of the game, she has been made so.  However,
recently (at the time of the publication of this guide), she has been
brought back as a recurring enemy in another quest.

This quest is more difficult than the previous quests, mainly because
Whisperdoom is so tough.  The heroes are warned by Chieftain
Ungurz that she is undefeatable, and that their only goal is to destroy
her eggs.  The loathsome vermin is in an alliance with the
Splinterskull tribe, and by destroying her eggs, this alliance will
end.  The difficulty with completing this goal for a level
appropriate party is that Whisperdoom and some of her brood are in the
same cavern as her eggs, making destroying the eggs problematical, at
best, without dying.  One thing you definitely wish to bring with
you in this adventure is lesser restoration, or, even better, lesser
restoration.  There are many opportunities to be poisoned in this
quest.

the " href="http://ddo.tentonhammer.com/index.php?module=ContentExpress&func=display&ceid=410">Yarkuch's
War Plans" quest, with some exceptions.  Mainly, the hobgoblin
tacticians are no longer present, nor is Blood-drinker. href="http://ddo.tentonhammer.com/modules.php?set_albumName=album28&id=map4&op=modload&name=Gallery&file=index&include=view_photo.php"> alt="Map of Outer Splinterskull Fortress"

In down the cavern hallway where you meet the hobgoblins (with the
warning bell), you will find the first of Whisperdoom's
daughters.  The daughter is basically a cr 5 black widow spider,
tough but not undefeatable.

Further into the fortress, you will find hobgoblin clerics,
infiltrators, slayers and guards.   The eastern prison area
(next to the shrine) has the usual scorpions in a pit.  Beyond the
pit, again with the door requiring a 16 strength to open, is found a
skeleton.  This skeleton is the remains of the skittish prisoner
met in " href="http://ddo.tentonhammer.com/index.php?module=ContentExpress&func=display&ceid=409">The
Hobgoblin Captives", again as a zombie in "Yarkuch's War
Plans".  A chest is found here, though if you have looted it in
previous quests, it will be giving less valuable treasure.

style="border: 2px solid ; width: 250px; height: 186px;" align="left">Passing
into the main hall, there is another group of slayers, clerics and
infiltrators.  The eastern door leads to another lightning trap
and chest.  Once heading west from the main hall, you will run
into the same patrols (with the same makeup) as the previous quests you
have done here.

Beyond this point, you start running into larger differences.  The
north east side cavern contains one of whisperdoom's daughters near the
entrance.  This daughter appears to be bugged, only appearing upon
occasion.  Further in are more spiders, though you can often kill
the daughter without going further in.  Again, this daughter, like
all others in this quest, is essentially a CR 5 Black Widow spider of
medium difficulty.

To the south of the trapped center hallway is the same group of
hobgoblins, with many clerics and slayers, with a chest.  Again,
they overlook the "ring" hallway, so expect them to use spells and
spears upon you from above if you pass near them in the "ring" hallway.

style="border: 2px solid ; width: 250px; height: 173px;" align="right">

The southermost cavern contains the third of Whisperdoom's daughters
along with some more spiders.  Here you must fight all of them to
get the daughter.. they will all see you as you approach.

After killing the daughters, defeating the patrols in the hallways, and
the large group of hobgoblins at the end of the center hallway, you
should prepare to face Whisperdoom.
style="font-family: tahoma;"> style="font-family: tahoma;"> The best way to accomplish your goal of
destroying all the Whisperdoom's eggs is have an organized plan.
I personally prefer to have the entire part y I am in well to the south
of the entrance to her lair, waiting for one brave adventurer to draw
her and her brood out of the way.

href="http://ddo.tentonhammer.com/modules.php?set_albumName=album28&id=Whisperdooms_Lair&op=modload&name=Gallery&file=index&include=view_photo.php"> alt="The lair of Whisperdoom."
src="http://ddo.tentonhammer.com/files/gallery/albums/album28/Whisperdooms_Lair.sized.jpg"
style="border: 2px solid ; width: 250px; height: 187px;" align="left">
size="-1">This adventurer enters
her lair, makes sure he or she has all of the spiders attention, then
goes east out of her layer, bringing all the brood and Whisperdoom with
her.
style="font-family: tahoma;"> style="font-family: tahoma;"> Once they are out of sight, the
remaining of the party enters Whisperdooms (hopefully) empty lair,
destroys the eggs, and loots the chest.
style="font-family: tahoma;"> style="font-family: tahoma;">  Meanwhile, the hero who got
Whisperdooms attention enters the center hallway, jumps (or runs if
they are disarmed) the traps, and drops down off the overlooking ledge
back into the hallway.  Heading west, the hero goes back to the
chest and loots it, then finishes out.

The most important part of this tactic is that the hero who draws
whisperdoom out should have plenty of hit points and href="http://ddo.tentonhammer.com/index.php?module=ContentExpress&func=display&ceid=252">protections..
he or she will take damage from whisperdoom and her fellow spiders if
the runner is not careful.
