Quests 5
and 6: The Deadly Package; Stronghold Key and The Agent of the Dargull

These two quests of the Assault on Splinterskull quest chain are the
transition for adventurers between their exploring the inner and outer
Splinterskull Fortress.  From now on, the goals of these
adventures involve the heroes accessing the inner fortress of the
Splinterskull Tribe.

The first adventure involves adventurers finding the key to enter the
inner fortress.  This is straightforward, but no longer do you
meet hobgoblin guards, now you meet hobgoblin clerics, infiltrators,
and many slayers.  You also meet hobgoblin avengers, who are
basically tougher hobgoblin slayers.

The second adventure is quite easy, you merely must enter the fortress
(having found the stronghold key), defeat guards at a bridge, and speak
to a hobgoblin agent of the Dargull Tribe.  You do get to enjoy
watching a flesh render kill a group of hobgoblins (from a safe
distance), though this is an optional goal.

When you enter the outer fortress, you will style="font-family: tahoma;"> style="font-family: tahoma;"> style="font-family: tahoma;"> find the entrance areas are
mainly empty.

guards near the warning

avengers.  These avengers tough, so be cautious with fighting them.

The prison areas are empty of hobgoblins, excepting for a single
hobgoblin slayer guarding their entrance, though the spiders and
scorpions are still present.  The chest found beyond the door at
the scorpions is still present, but the skeletal remains of the
skittish prisoner found in href="http://ddo.tentonhammer.com/index.php?module=ContentExpress&func=display&ceid=410">"Yarkuch's War Plans" are absent.

Another avenger is at the top of the stairs leading to the main chamber
(near the lightning trap), and yet another, along with several
hobgoblin clerics, infiltrators and slayers, is found in the main
chamber itself.  The lightning trap and chest beyond are still
present.

In the hallway leading from the main chamber to the circular tunnel is
found a fourth hobgoblin slayer.  In the circular hallway and the
overlooking central hall are found the patrols

are made up of more slayers and clerics than before.

The final avenger is found at the entrance to the inner fortress.
The door is locked; to open it, you must get the key from the northeast
cave in the complex, in a chest, guarded by yet more
hobgoblins.   Now merely bring the key (after stopping at the
center hallway shrine) to the portcullis leading to the inner fortress,
unlock it, and enter.  At the end of the hall is the entrance to
the inner fortress, beginning quest six; The Agent of the
Dargull.  Don't recall, simply go straight onto quest six.

Quest 6: The Agent of the Dargull

This quest is very simple.  Upon entering the fortress, you will
see a drawbridge (up) directly in front of you, at the end of a short
tunnel.  Prepare yourself without traveling forward at all as soon
as you appear, including href="http://ddo.tentonhammer.com/index.php?module=ContentExpress&func=display&ceid=107">fire resistance if possible.  Ahead you
will meet more hobgoblins.  Defeat the hobgoblins without going
out of the tunnel, simply move forward and draw them back into the
tunnel to fight.

At the far side of the bridge, on both sides, are two of a new type of
hobgoblin, hobgoblin witch doctors.  While not particularly

cast Scorching Ray, which can quickly kill a
party that is not prepared
style="font-family: tahoma;"> style="font-family: tahoma;">.

Now simply kill these hobgoblins with ranged weapons, dodging whenever
they fire their spells at you.  After they are dead, you will
notice a mechanism to the left of the drawbridge.  This mechanism
can be shot to lower the drawbridge, and a chest containing ten arrows
and a longbow is next to the drawbridge if you should need it.
Three hobgoblin slayers will attack as soon as you lower the
drawbridge, but that should be last of the fighting you will have to do.

Travel forward along the hallway on the far side of the bridge and
through the wooden doors.  You will see a lone hobgoblin,
Lhor-Tragu.  Talk to Lhor-Tragu to complete the quest.
However, after finishing the quest, do not recall quite yet.
Behind Lhor-Tragu is a href="http://ddo.tentonhammer.com/index.php?module=ContentExpress&func=display&ceid=71">secret door.  Open this door and advance
forward, stopping before approaching some stairs.  The stairs are
trapped, and you can advance using fire (protection is better than
resistance in this case, the trap

disarming it.  Travel forward up the stairs to a chamber
overlooking (through a barred window) a larger chamber with several
hobgoblins, worgs, and a imprisoned flesh render.

chamber that you are in is a valve.  Simply pull
the valve and the flesh render will be released, whereupon it proceeds
to kill all the hobgoblins, then return to it's home plane.  Now
return to Lhor-Tragu, head east, open the portcullis.  You will
have found yourself in the room where the flesh render is.  A
chest is here.   Loot it, and you will be done with this
quest.
