The Trollish Scourge

The second pair of quests in the
Gray Moon Waning quest chain involve fighting trolls.  Basically,
having defeated the Usurper ogre
chieftain in Grey Moon Waning, you now are tasked with clearing out the
troll's which have joined with the rebellious members of the Grey Moon
Tribe.  Bruku the elder of the Grey Moon tribe believes
(rightfully) that eventually the tribe will be overrun with trolls.

To fight these trolls, you have few needs.  Mainly, your going to
want to have high armor class, lots of href="http://ddo.tentonhammer.com/index.php?module=ContentExpress&func=display&ceid=522">healing,
and a way of doing href="http://ddo.tentonhammer.com/index.php?module=ContentExpress&func=display&ceid=75">fire
damage reliably.  There are shamans who cast bestow curse, sound
burst and inflict moderate and serious wounds, but this is the
exception.  There are some scorpion here, so poison protection is
a plus.  Once you have that, your pretty much all set to head into
this quest.

To reach this quest, travel along the eastern trail (away from the href="http://ddo.tentonhammer.com/index.php?module=ContentExpress&func=display&ceid=532">Iron
Mines) found south of Bruku.  After moving along the trail
past a road block (and some hell hounds), the entrance is in a right
divergence from the main east/west path.

style="border: 2px solid ; width: 250px; height: 321px;" align="right">Upon
entering the
cave, you come to a 4 way intersection.  There are 4 Black Sun
Ogres here.  The left and right passageways end in dead end rooms
with 3 or 4 trolls or ogres (total combined) in them.

Continuing down the
hallway, you arrive at a long wide cavern, with a
ledge on the upper half.  The lower half has a ladder at the far
end of the cavern, with rooms on both ends.  The west room had a
trio of black puddings.  The eastern
room has a small group of trolls and ogres.  The upper ledge
(reached by the ladder) leads on further into the cavern.  It is
lined with ogre and troll archers.  Assuming you have killed all
the ogres up to this point, and kill all the ogres in this ledge, you
will successfully completed the "kill the ogre collaborators" optional
quest.

Past the ledge is another intersection, 4 ways.  This
intersections has 5 Monarch scorpions, which are quite deadly.
Spellscasters should avoid drawing aggression until the melee types in
your party have the scorpion's agression well in hand.

The left turn (as you approached from the ledge) of this 4 way
intersection leads to a shrine.  Forward leads to a locked
door.  Behind this door is the Ogre Quartermaster Drant
(sometimes) and
a trapped chest.  Right leads down a hallway which has a few
trolls, and continues into the complex.

style="border: 2px solid ; width: 250px; height: 174px;" align="left">At
the end of the hallway, you arrive at the bridge.  Your quest
is almost finished.  To the right and left are ladders leading
up.  Across the bridge, you see the troll chieftain,
Hammerfirst.  The bridge is trapped with a deadly force trap. Draw
Hammerfist to you with a bow, and slay him.  Then have your rogue
(alone) cross the bridge and disarm the trap.  Note:  The
rogue should be hasted.  Once the rogue crosses the bridge, 2
trolls will descend the side ladders here, dropping down upon
you.  Facing the bridge, the righthand ladder leads up to a
occasional orange named boss, Shaman Hurpostaw.

Once you kill these trolls, you will have completed this
quest, though you will be back to this cave after you are finished.
