Along with Patch 2.3 that dropped on Tuesday came a whole new way to travel in SWTOR. Yes, TaunTaun mounts have finally arrived. There are currently two varieties of the famous Star Wars ride/tent, the Mountain and the more familiar Tundra style. If you’re looking to pick one up for yourself look no further as we have all the details you’ll need below!

Note: The Mountain TaunTaun can only be purchased by subscribers.

The vendor for the mounts can be found on the planet Hoth just outside of the elevators of the Dorn/Aurek base. You’ll be able to tell which ones they are by the two tauntauns around them.

The vendors sell three important things the first of which is of course the TaunTaun themselves. In order to purchase on you’ll need “Tauntaun Domestication Data”, 20 for the Tundra version and 15 for the Mountain. There are two ways to get these Domestication Data. First you can simply purchase them right from the vendor for a cool 100k credits each (Adds up to 2 million for the Tundra and 1.5million for the Mountain). The more cost effective buy labor intensive way is through the Tauntaun lures.

At various locations throughout Hoth (some of which can be pointed out on the maps below) there are Taun Fawn nests full of Taun Fawn. Use the lure on the Taun Fawn and when you are successful (about ¼ of the time) a Wampa will spawn and attack you (this Wampa will be the level that fed the Fawn). Once you kill the Wampa you can collect the Domestication Data. Do this 15 or 20 times and turn them all in for your Tauntaun.

These are only the more popular locations that have been discovered so far, there may be more out there that haven’t been included. As there is a cooldown timer on the Taun Fawns of about 30 mins a good strategy is to switch between instances to maximize your chances.
