The Hillsbrad Foothills is located in southern Lordaeron and is home to
many well known places such as Tarren Mill and Southshore.
Once a relatively safe and stable zone dotted with farms and home to
mainly Humans loyal to the Alliance. Hillsbrad has a relatively bloody
history seeing many skirmishes during the Second War.

The coming of the Cataclysm, however, has once again changed the face
of
the zone. Since then the Forsaken have all but taken over
Hillsbrad, Southshore has been left in ruins and with its
destruction came
a mass exodus of the remaining humans in the zone. Not a single
Alliance town or flight path has been left intact.

Players following the natural flow of the game will come to Hillsbrad
Foothills from either Ghostlands or Silverpine Forest. Those coming
from Silverpine will be given a breadcrumb quest ( ) to come here after
completing the majority of the quests in the zone, however those coming
from Ghostlands or elsewhere will need to visit the
Warcheif’s Command Board to pick up the quest
“Warcheif’s Command: Hillsbrad Foothills”.

Both of these starter quests will turn in at the first stop on your
journey into the zone, Southpoint Gate, a small settlement guarding the
border from Silverpine Forest into Hillsbrad Foothills.

    Also while here,
don’t forget to grab the newly added flight path!

All quests from Southpoint Gate, including the obvious breadcrumb quest
“Trouble at Azurelode”, are based around and turn
in at one place; Azurelode Mine. Much changed since the Cataclysm. The
once Alliance controlled mine has been overtaken by the Horde with the
help of newly trained spiders and all humans in the area are being held
hostage in their webs.

quests at Southpoint Gate? Well he has made it to the Azurelode Mine,
but has gotten himself into quite the pickle. Find him and a quest to
escort him from the mine deep inside Azurelode Mine.

The quest “Trouble at the Sludge Fields” will take
you to the newly erected Sludge Fields which were built over what once
was Hillsbrad Fields. The Sludge Fields is for all intents and purposes
an internment camp comparable to Nazi Germany, including the
“experiments” in the name of science, where those
unfortunate human residents that were unable to escape to safety are
kept at the mercy of the Forsaken. However a small problem has arisen
for the Forsaken as their human experiments turn into uncontrollable
monsters.

After the “situation” at the Sludge Fens is taken
care of and the insane Warden in charge of the compound is dead you
will receive the quest “Trouble at Southshore”
which will send you along toSouthshore found along the coast
of Hillbrad. Once an Alliance port city, Southshore was the main
defense
for the humans of Hillsbrad against all threats. Since the Cataclysm,
however, Southshore has been destroyed by the Forsaken Blight and is
now
known as the Ruins of Southshore.

Kingslayer Orkus is one you should NOT miss. Orkus can be found

If you have completed the Kingslayer Orkus quest chain as mentioned in
the tips above, you will receive a free ride to the next quest hub in
line, Tarren Mill, to turn in the quest “Heroes of the
Horde”. Tarren Mill is located in northern Hillsbrad
Foothills
and has been updated with a brand new look including Forsaken
architecture after Cataclysm. Thanks to its proximity to the
mountains in the region Tarren Mill has a “small”

    While
doing the quest line beginning with the quest “Cry of the
Banshee” be sure to visit Sofera’s Naze first to
complete this quest and set the explosive for the quest
“Breaking the Hand”. Once “Cry of the
Banshee” is completed you will receive the follow up quest
    “Decimation” for Corrahn's Dagger. Go
    there, plant
the explosive for “Breaking the Hand“ and finish
    “Decimation”. Once “Decimation”
is completed you will once again be granted two follow up quests,
    “Infiltration” and “Deception and
Trickery” both of which will take you to the Headland. The
quest “Deception and Trickery” will make you
friendly to the Stormpike NPCs for the duration of the quest, making it
an easy task to plant the last explosive for “Breaking the
Hand”. You can also kill the needed NPCs for
“Infiltration” by simply speaking with them and you
will not aggro any of the surrounding mobs.

Early on while questing in Tarren Mill you will receive a quest labeled
“Eastpoint Tower” which will lead you to the next
quest hub in Tarren Mill, Eastpoint Tower. Located southwest of
Durnholde Keep, the tower was originally guarded by the Syndicate but
was claimed by the Forsaken during the Cataclysm.

    style="font-style: italic;">While Eastpoint Tower is
certainly not much to look at it comes equipped with it’s
very own flight path and inn.

Once you have completed all the quests in Eastpoint Tower you should be
level 25 or perhaps a little above and will undoubtedly be ready to
move on to the next zone. “Warchief’s Command:
Arathi Highlands!” will send you to your next destination and
can be picked up from the Warchief’s Command board at Tarren
Mill or Eastpoint Tower.

Congratulations on successfully completing Hillsbrad Foothills!

The Arathi Highlands is located just east of Hillsbrad Foothills with a
landscape that is dominated
by flat grassy plains and was
once the cradle of Human civilization. The main points of activity in
the Highlands revolve around the Allaince encampment at Refuge Pointe
and the Horde controlled Hammerfall which once was used as an
internment camp for Orcs.

After the Cataclysm the Horde, or more precisely the Forsaken in their
quest for domination of all of Lordaeron, have gained further hold in
the Highlands and a small encampment has been erected near
Thoradin’s Wall. The Arathi Highlands contain no instanced
dungeons, however the infamous ruins of Stromgarde Keep, standing on
the original capital of Strom, can be considered a micro dungeon in
itself due to the sheer number of quests and time players spend here,
even though the mobs found inside are no longer elite.

The quest  “Warchief’s Command: Arathi
Highlands!” will lead players straight to a small Forsaken
encampment along Thoradin’s Wall. Here players will make
their first ventures in aiding the Forsaken in their quest to make
Arathi Highlands a part of their ever growing empire.

    that. Continue
forward across the bridge until you reach a garden like
area. Head towards the right of the chapel here and continue through
some wooden trellises. Continue straight to find the crypt.

Once you have settled some personal vendettas and completed the rather
long set of quests concerning Stromguard Keep it will finally be time
to leave Galen’s Fall. Two options will be open to you. The
quest “Hammerfall” will take you to Hammerfall,
while the quest “Hello Lolo” will instead take you
to Faldir’s Cove to investigate a mysterious pirate ship. I
personally chose to go to Faldir’s Cove first as it is the
closer of the two quest hubs.

Located in the Northern part of the Eastern Kingdoms the Hinterlands is
a wild region bordered on one side by the sea. Most noteable about the
area is the Gryphons that roam wild across the region. These noble
birds are tamed by the Wildhammer Dwarves who inhabit
Aerie Peak and
provide transportation for Alliance players.

Besides the Dwarves, the Hinterlands is also home to the Raventusk
Trolls who prefer the coastal region of the zone, and their lifelong
enemies the Vilebranch Trolls who hold the massive troll city of
Jintha’Alor. Since the Cataclysm a small number of Forsaken
have also moved into the zone to conduct research.

The Hinterlands has no instanced dungeons however hidden in the
Hinterlands rustic reaches of the zone is Seradane, one of the four
Great Trees that lead to the Emerald Dream.

The quest “Revantusk Village” will lead you on your
way to the Hinterlands and comes complete with a free flight. Once you
land you will find yourself on the docks of Revantusk Village, your
first quest hub in this wild zone. The main enemy at hand here; the
Vilebranch Trolls and pesky Wildhammer Dwarves.

breadcrumb quest leading to Stranglethorn Vale.

As you complete the quests available in Revantusk Village you will
receive the quest “The Fall of
Jintha’Alor” which will send you to seek out the
quest givers stationed outside the Vilebranch stronghold of
Jintha’Alor. It’s time to take these ancient ruins
in the name of the Horde!

the top the Troll named Kotonga will offer you free transport to the
midsdle tier of Jintha’Alor, once there an idol in the same
place you teleported into can be used to take you back to your allies.

While you have done much to claim Jintha’Alor for the Horde,
it seems a dark ritual is taking place to summon the spider goddess
Shandra. The ritual must be stopped but how? This requires an expert's
opinion and the quest “Darkcleric Material” will
lead you to Darkcleric Marnal in the Hiri‘watha Ruins in the
western portion of the Hinterlands. Turned into a research station by
the Forsaken this place will be the next and final quest hub on your
adventure in the Hinterlands.

After wiping out the spider goddess Shadra and ensuring victory for the
Horde in the Hinterlands it’s time once again to move on to
complete the last five levels on your quest to level 40. The quest to
send you on your way “The Battle for Andorhal”
should have been obtained from the Hiri’watha Research
Station upon your arrival there. Now it’s time to take the
quest giver up on his offer and make use of the free flight into the
Western Plaguelands.

The Western Plaguelands can be found between Tirisfal Glades to the
west and the Eastern Plaguelands to the east. The Western Plaguelands
began as a bountiful forested farmland with Hearthglen in the north
being the seat of power for the region while the city of Andorhal in
the south was the center of grain distribution for all of
Lordaeron’s northern provinces.

Tragedy was to befall the Western Plaguelands as the mass center of
grain distribution was used as an easy way for the evil
Kel’Thuzad to spread his Plague of Undeath throughout the
region. So the zone fell into misery, the forests died, and the animals
became diseased, while the Scourge furthered the plague by bringing in
huge plague cauldrons. Despite all this the Western Plaguelands still
remained in better condition than the Eastern Plaguelands.

With the death of the Lich King and the release of Cataclysm the
Western Plaguelands was finally freed from it’s curse. The
plague is slowly being pushed from the zone and hope for a better
future once again resonates across the land. Not all the Scourge are
gone from the zone though and the instance of Scolomance remains
untouched on the island of Caer Darrow.

The quest “The Battle for Andorhal” from the
Hinterlands will start your introduction into this zone. You will be
plopped down in the middle of Andorhal, which is much changed since the
days before Cataclysm. Here an epic battle is being waged between
Horde, Alliance, and Scourge. Your help here could mean the
difference between victory or defeat.

Andorhal

style="margin: 10px; float: right; width: 200px;"> href="http://www.tentonhammer.com/node/93714" target="_blank"> src="http://www.tentonhammer.com/image/view/93714" alt=""

With temporary victory against the Scourge forces in Andorhal assured
and the Horde forces regrouping before an attack on the Alliance,
it’s time for you to move on to the next quest hub.
“Victory, For Now” will ask you to once again visit
the Bulwark located on the Plaugelands’ western border where
you will find several new quests aimed at taking out the remaining
Scarlet Crusade and further ensuring victory over the Alliance in
Andorhal. So hop on a bat and head on over!

The Bulwark

    In
the quest “Foxes and Hounds” the hounds you need to
kill for this quest are directly linked to Alliance Fox Hunters (also
part of the quest). When one is aggroed the other will be close behind.

After completing the quests at the Bulwark two paths will be open to
you, “Strange New Faces” will take you to the
nearby Charred Outpost that once was inhabited by the Scarlet Crusade
and “The Menders’ Stead” will take you
deeper into the Western Plaguelands to lend your aid to the Argent
Crusade. Going to the Charred Outpost first is advised as it is the
closest of the two quest hubs and has only two quests.

Charred Outpost

style="margin: 10px; float: right; width: 200px;"> href="http://www.tentonhammer.com/node/93717" target="_blank"> src="http://www.tentonhammer.com/image/view/93717" alt=""

Complete the two quests at the Charred Outpost to remake Felstone Field
in the name of the Horde and then take the quest giver’s
advice and continue heading east along the road to turn in the quest
“The Menders’ Stead” at the
Menders’s Stead and begin assisting the Argent Crusade in
their efforts to heal the Western Plaguelands.

After harvesting some rather unusual vegetables and helping out a Druid
in training you will find yourself faced once again with two breadcrumb
quests. “Northridge Lumber Mill” will send you
north to the Northridge Lumber Mill where you will continue helping the
Argent Crusade, while “The Battle Resumes” will
take you back to Andorhal to assist in the attack against the Alliance
stationed there. Which path you take from here is entirely up to you,
however I would recommend heading to Northridge Lumber Mill first.

“This Means War (Wild Arachnid Roundup) be sure to put
yourself and your horse between the spider and lumber mill before using
    the Whinny ability.

Your heroism at the Northridge Lumber Mill has not gone unnoticed and
after completing the quests there you will be asked to venture north to
Hearthglen with the quest “An Audience with the
Highlord” where you will speak with Highlord Tirion Fordring
himself.

Hearthglen

style="margin: 10px; float: right; width: 200px;"> href="http://www.tentonhammer.com/node/93721" target="_blank"> src="http://www.tentonhammer.com/image/view/93721" alt=""

Your stint with the Argent Crusade is over…for
now…but you have left quite the impression in your wake. One
of the residents in Hearthglen will soon be leaving, and in the quest
“The Long Trip Home” expresses his desire to meet
with you again in the Menders’ Stead. Never mind the fact he
never bothers to actually leave.

Bringing happiness to a grieving man, and making something out of a
seemingly hopeless Druid is all in a day's work for you, but as you
will come to find out your work is never really done and so it is time

Andorhal to battle against the Alliance with the quest “The
Battle Resumes” which you have been harboring in your quest
log all this time.

Dark Lady and reached level 40 in the process. This achievement can
only mean one thing, it’s time to move on from the Western
Plaguelands and thankfully you have a quest to lead you on your way.
“Into the Woods” which is obtained in Andorhal the
second time you visit it will send you to the Eastern Plaguelands to
meet with a….Worgen?!
