Mass Effect 3 has been a marvel of storytelling and has managed to invest many players into the well-written characters and dramatic narrative. With Mass Effect 3, Commander Shepard’s journey through the Mass Effect saga came to a close, but the resolution of the story has a lot of fans angry and calling for a new ending from BioWare.

A poll on the BioWare forums has already gained more than 28,000 votes while a petition on Facebook has over 14,000 supporters. The petitions and poll are calling for a different ending given that the original ending choices all leave a bitters/bittersweet conclusion and many unanswered questions, which is likely a part of what Stow was referring to in his review of Mass Effect 3 on the subject of plot holes.

Whether the ending is a gateway for BioWare to craft a new future for the Mass Effect saga, a clever segue into some upcoming DLC or the planned canonical ending to Shepard’s journey is still being speculated on, but one thing is for sure, you know you’ve managed to emotionally invest your players in the game when they become this furious about the end of the story.

The ending could certainly have used a bit more elaboration on a few things (which I won’t get into to avoid spoilers) and some fans are already speculating that this could be a clever tie-in to upcoming DLC. If that's the case, there may be more to the story to come. We'll have to wait and see.
