It wouldn't be a Blizzard game without an awesome backdrop to all the action, and it looks like we're going to learn a lot about the world of Overwatch in the coming two months before the game's release. A series of animated shorts will kick everything off later this month, with a set of digital comics and a graphic novel to follow shortly after (presumably before the release date. If you're interested in getting a sneak peak at the lore when it was in the making, Blizzard has posted a quick teaser for the animated shorts.

The unique cast of heroes featured in the game will have their specific backstories explored in depth with the series of digital comics, starting with McCree. While not all will get their own comic, all will be featured in some shape or form up until release day.

Overwatch launches on May 24th, with a final open beta taking place May 5th to 9th.
