Funcom have released their earnings report for the 4th Quarter of 2013 and it makes for confusing and not too pleasant reading. Most people will never delve into the depths of an earnings report because they're hard to understand and for the most part filled with internal technical jargon that Mr Joe Public simply won't understand.

For the most part, the report highlights that earnings at Funcom are down (no surprise there) that cash-flow for existing titles is good and will remain so into the near future and that development on a new Anarchy Online engine and content for the likes of Age of Conan is still ongoing. Interestingly there's also a big update on Lego Minifigures Online (which I think will do pretty well for them) while player numbers for Age of Conan and Anarchy Online are also stable.

I'm surprised to see no huge mention of The Secret World's roadmap, although they do state it has seen increased activity and that it isn't unsurprising to see reduced turnover after original subscriptions and box sales have flat-lined.

You can find the full earnings report right here.

The only game to have distracted Lewis away from MMOG's over the last 15 years was Pokemon Red. Despite that blip, Lewis has worked his way through countless games in the genre in search of something that comes close to his much loved (and long time dead) Neocron. Having written for several gaming networks before Ten Ton Hammer, Lewis likes to think he knows a thing or two about what makes an MMOG and its player-base tick.
