It’s been fairly quiet in the Guild Wars 2 news department this week, but theres a few new developments.

First up is a huge post by Bobby Stein discussing the restoration of the totally broken Personal Story. It's a huge post so I'd recommend you read it as soon as possible. The patch should go live soon.

Second is a new teaser image from ArenaNet’s official Twitter. There’s a gorgeous piece of concept art and a hint that more information on Heart Of Thorns is due this week.

Next up is a major change that ArenaNet are making to gold transfers. Simply put, it’s going to be limited to 500 gold per account, per week. If you transfer more than this, the gold will be held in mail until the cooldown is up. Is this a good thing? I think so. Gold sellers are still a common problem in Guild Wars 2 and are constantly spamming channels. This will go a long way in stopping their transfer of money. What I also like about this change is the fact that it’ll likely prevent players selling privately on the Looking For Group channel. There’s far too many scammers going on there.

Full details about the system:

  • Each account will have a limit on how much gold can be moved from its mail in-box and Guild Vault into its wallet each week.
  • If you receive more gold through in-game mail than you can accept in a week, the gold will remain attached to the mail in your in-box and can be retrieved up to the limit the following week or in subsequent weeks.
  • For the purposes of this limit, a week begins at 12:01 AM UTC each Sunday (5:01 PM PDT/4:01 PM PST Saturday).
  • Gold received from the Trading Post is not subject to this limit.
  • The maximum amount of gold that can be sent via a single in-game mail will be 500 gold.
  • The maximum total amount of gold that an individual player account can accept in a week will be 500 gold.
  • We will monitor this system and may make changes to the limits if we find that changes are necessary.

If you missed the last Ready Up, it provided coverage on the new Borderlands map as well as answering some community question. Join by Tirzah Bauer who designed the map, she walks us through several of the keeps and shows off the map as a whole. It looks incredible and if you haven’t watched the video, I really cannot recommend it enough. I’m hoping that the new square shape, combined with the new keep and shrine system will lead to a little less zerging and lots more tactics.

It’s April 1st tomorrow - will Super Adventure Box be making a return? Possibly and there’s a Reddit countdown in preparation.

Not strictly news but there’s a good Reddit topic discussing Gift of Exploration with the proposal that using the Gift could provide a character with map completion. I really love that idea - especially if it consumed the Gift. It’d be a worthy sacrifice for anyone who has alts.

I really enjoy WoodenPotatoes videos (even if he does talk at lightning speed) and his latest few have been a good watch. He published one a few hours ago that offered a question and answer session, with some of the questions and his answers particularly entertaining. Check it out.

Over on GuildMag there’s an excellent article from Kriss Watt discussing the Legendary precursor quest and the use of RNG. It’s well worth a read as Kriss does an excellent job of raising questions based on the original blog post by ArenaNet.

On a similar subject and over to Kill Ten Rats, Ravius talks about the new zone based farming and how it being player lead and directional is a good thing. He does however raise a valid point about players rushing the farm (as they do in Frostgorge Sound and other areas). Here’s hoping they fix the scaling.

Lastly, I’m seeing a lot of new players arrive in Tyria and Dragon Season have produced an excellent quick guide for new players. It’s simple to read, straight to the point and super easy to follow.
