Turbine officially launches The Lord of the Rings Online (LotRO) into the free-to-play market today. Free-to-play beta testers and past and current subscribers have been enjoying the new content early but everyone will be able to sample what Middle-earth has to offer starting today. Patrons of the LotRO website may also have noticed that the site and forums have gotten a major makeover to welcome new and old players alike. It's all part of Turbine's secret weapon, a formula that they seem to have mastered when it comes to free-to-play transition and success.

Want to give LotRO a try? Sign up for a free account and download the standard client here and the hi-rez client here to get started. Check out the latest update notes for what's new while you're downloading the client.
