Skyforge is getting a big update and I'll skip straight to the chase: invasions are what I'm personally most excited for. Large scale PvE maps where invaders are rushing in and everyone gets to pile in and help reminds me of custom maps through a variety of games where you have to defend a specific area from assault. It's not an all out 1000 players vs. the enemy thing, but it's an engaging system that'll have you playing just to make sure you can win, plus capture all of the rewards from the various maps.

That out of the way, the update coming August 11th is massive. It's adding in lots of features that have only been discussed about up until this point, such as Invasions, Raids, etc. Here is a quick list of what's coming:

  • Divine Form: Unlocks around 30,500 Prestige and includes an epic quest line to obtain it.
  • Distortions: Acitivites for Pantheons to engage in which will reward them with epic loot.
  • Anomalies: Large multi-group maps that reward epic loot.
  • Invasions: Spawns random defense based maps and raids, with a long epic storyline that impacts the game. Rewards do not count against the weekly cap.
  • Raids: 10-player dungeons with a twist.

There is a lot more coming in the realm of bug fixes, but the details will be coming on the website soon. Again, invasions to me is the big deal, because it's the primary combat orienated task that you can do once you reach your cap. The rewards don't count against your cap, from what I've read, so it's going to be a blast and really help alleviate some of the current gripes about the game relating to the weekly cap.

This content update is massive though. Each of these elements are huge in scope, far beyond the scope of this article. For instance, Divine Form is sort of an ultimate that you specialize in, you choose a priority specialization and unlock additional specializations on the Divine atlas, another matrix. The Divine Form is super powerful and grants a very powerful skill, along with a change in apperance.

Anyway, this all comes to the game August 11th, unless something changes. You can read more about the details here, which includes overviews for the various components coming to the game.
