Ubisoft Blue Byte brings its online free-to-play iteration of the classic WWII turn-based strategy series, Panzer General, to closed beta this week with Panzer General Online. Beta testers will have the chance to put the new online turn-based strategy game through its paces while with legendary units such as the the Tiger Tank or the Nebelwerfer rocket launcher. Players can play solo or take on other players in various multiplayer modes to fight in historical skirmishes such as Monte Casino and the Battle of the Bulge.
Panzer General Online also includes a new trading card system, which allows players to collect and trade virtual miniature infantry, artillery, and tank cards that can be used to improve their personal armies. Other cards can provide additional battle support, allowing players to use them to call in air strikes and order tactical movements.

Developed by Ubisoft Blue Byte in close collaboration with Funatics Software, Panzer General Online represents a new direction for the series, delivering WWII tank combat via intense tactical battles and an all-new card collecting system, all playable for free inside of a browser.

In Panzer General Online, users will take control of legendary armored units like the Tiger Tank or the Nebelwerfer rocket launcher in either single or one of several multiplayer modes. The skirmishes are set in historically-inspired battles such as Monte Casino and the Battle of the Bulge.
Panzer General Online introduces a major new gameplay mechanic to the franchise the trading card system. Users can collect and trade virtual miniatures of tanks, infantry and artillery to create, refine, and upgrade their personalized army. Players can also compose a strong deck of command cards which will allow them to call in devastating air strikes and order tactical manoeuvres that can turn the tide of battle.
