In this Patreon exclusive content, Greg discusses his much loved Destiny and the number of changes that the game has seen since The Taken King arrived. From improved levelling to better gear upgrading, Greg shares his thoughts. As always, we've pulled out the opening extract from the article below and if you'd like to carry on reading it, head on over to our Patreon: it costs as little as $1 per month to support Ten Ton Hammer and to gain access to lots of other awesome editorials!

The Taken King changed so much in Destiny, it’s hard to pinpoint the one thing that made the game so much better. In fact it probably wasn’t one change that did, but instead the large amalgamation of changes each of which tweaked the game in a small way.

Players just picking up the game for the first time will have no idea the strange journey that was Destiny year 1, but for those of us who were there, the changes listed below represented the start of a whole new game when the Taken King arrived.

Levelling Makes Sense Now

Light levels being part of your official level always felt kind of weird. I mean it was pretty much just an average of your gear but instead actually represented your final level (it felt wrong un-equipping a piece of gear and dropping in level). What’s stranger still is that this system only came into place after level 20. The game before that had an easy to understand experience system.
