Just yesterday I wrote about ArenaNet hosting a new free trial period for Guild Wars 2, which starts today and lasts through October 1. In conjunction with the free trial, Guild Wars 2 is also on sale for 50% off from now until October 5. Since Guild Wars 2 only requires that you buy the game to have access, and no subscription, this is a good deal for anyone who wants to check out the game. Try it for free, and if you enjoy it, enjoy buying it at half price. For more details on the trial and the sale, see the Guild Wars 2 official website. New players have time to battle up and get ready for the upcoming return of Season Two of Living Worlds, which starts again on November 4.

In addition to the free trial and concurrent sale, we're also on the journey to the 2014 Guild Wars 2 World Tournament Series Championships. This year marks the first time this is a truly global event, as China joins the competition to compete with North America and Europe, as well. ArenaNet, along with their partner and Chinese publisher of Guild Wars 2 KongZhong, are organizing three global tournaments leading to the final WTS Championships. Starting in China, and then heading to North America, and then Europe, each of the three tournaments will pit four teams against each other.

The debut event is scheduled for December 4-5 in Beijing, where players will vie for a $50,000 (USD) prize pool and the title of first-ever Guild Wars 2 WTS Champion.

ArenaNet recently updated the post about the qualifying rounds, called the Tournament of Glory. This can be watched via livestream as early as this weekend, with the finals taking place October 11 and 12. Not only will these be available on the Guild Wars 2 Twitch channel, but ArenaNet will also be hosting other livestreams that have a more informative take to them. These seem to be aimed towards the new players who would be giving Guild Wars 2 a try during the free trial period. A list of these events are as follows:

  • Thursday, September 25, 1:00 p.m. GMT: What is Player vs. Player?
  • Thursday, September 25, 4:00 p.m. GMT: What is Guild Wars 2?
  • Friday, September 26, 1:00 p.m. GMT: Points of Interest
  • Friday, September 26, 4:00 p.m. GMT: What is World vs. World?
  • Saturday, September 27, 1:00 p.m. GMT: What is Living World?
  • Saturday, September 27, 4:00 p.m. GMT: Tequatl Boss Fight
  • Sunday, September 28, 2:00 p.m. GMT: PvP Exhibition Match

This weekend's qualifies for the European Tournament of Glory will be hosted on Mistpedia's Twitch channel, which starts at 9am pacific time, both Saturday and Sunday.
