GameSpy reports on Richard Garriotts GDC lecture, where he spoke candidly about the trials and tribulations of Tabula Rasas development history.
In any case, Tabula Rasa never even had a chance to take a serious crack, due to a fundamental disconnect in the team's cohesion. According to Garriott, it was a case of too many chefs in the kitchen. There was hierarchy in place at the studio, but even those occupying the lowest rungs were pretty distinguished unto themselves, which hurt the team's ability to delegate and execute on tasks on a very fundamental level.
