DC Universe Online, the first action MMORPG to be released for the PlayStation 3 (as well as PC), cleared another hurdle today as it was announced that Vivox will be the voicechat provider for the game. Some form of voicechat was inevitable for the fast-paced game, whose developers have a stated goal of making the game equally accessible and playable with a traditional mouse and keyboard as well as a keyboard-less controller. And it's no great surprise that Vivox was chosen over competing client-server voicechat implementations given the company's ongoing relationship with SOE in the "Station Voice" branded premium service found in games such as EverQuest II.

Representatives from Vivox were on-hand at SOE Fan Faire 2010 distributing free headsets to dozens of fans who attended the DC Universe Online panel discussion. We have no word on whether voicechat will be included with the game's $14.99 / month subscription at this time.
