When people think of the Phantasy Star roleplaying games, it's fairly common to think of the old RPG series that helped bring the Sega Genesis to prominence. However, the game has been alive and kicking long since then, with a major group of players following the recently released Phantasy Star Universe. Released in August 2006, PSU is the sequel to Phantasy Star Online, the first online version of the game. While PSU may be only a year old, an expansion is already in the works titled Phantasy Star Universe: Ambition of the Illuminus. The Phantasy Star Universe page has been updated and a page highlighting the soon-to-be-released expansion Ambition of the Illuminus has been added. New Images from Phantasy Star Universe Expansion!

SEGA® Europe, Ltd and SEGA® of America, Inc. have announced that their sci-fi action role-playing game, Phantasy Star Universe, will be getting a new expansion in Autumn 2007. Titled Phantasy Star™ Universe: Ambition of the Illuminus, the expansion will be available for download on the Xbox 360 and in stores for the PlayStation®2 computer entertainment system and PCs.SEGA has been kind enough to give us a description of the expansion as well as images for your enjoyment!

MMO Phantasy Star Goes 360

Second MMORPG Hits XBox 360

According to Game Feed, a title dating from the Sega Master System days, Phantasy Star Online, will have an MMO present on the 360.

SEGA Studios must have figured they’ve kept their fans waiting long enough. It’s hard not to have ever heard the name Phantasy Star if you’ve been a Sega Genesis (or even a Master System) owner/fan back in the golden gaming era. Phantasy Star Online, a title that goes down in history as the first ever videogame console MMORPG (it also precedes ‘Final Fantasy XI’ in being the first-ever multi-platform MMORPG. Episodes I and II are playable on each of the PC, Dreamcast, Xbox, and Gamecube gaming platforms.)
