DAoC: Darkness Rising Released

Posted October 12th, 2005 by Boomjack

Darkness always seemed like it should be heavier than light, but apparently it's rising.
The folks at Mythic Entertainment have announced that Dark Age of Camelot: Darkness Rising has been released along with an "epic" box that includes the game plus all of the expansions. We tried to call Henry Winkler about this announcement, seeing as Arthur Fonzarelli is the closest thing to King Arthur we could find, but his publicist claimed he was out bothering Ron Howard for an acting job and would only say this:

" FAIRFAX, VA – October 11, 2005 - Mythic Entertainment, developer and publisher of massively-multiplayer online role-playing games, today released “Darkness Rising(TM),” the sixth expansion pack for the critically-acclaimed “Dark Age of Camelot(R).” The new expansion is available both as a stand alone product via Mythic’s new integrated digital distribution system and as part of the new “Dark Age of Camelot: Epic Edition” available at retail today.

“Dark Age of Camelot” subscribers can now purchase and activate “Darkness Rising” for $19.99 through a new in-game menu option. For more information about ordering “Darkness Rising,” visit: www.darkageofcamelot.com/DarknessRising/order.php.

“There is a lot of challenging new content available to players in ‘Darkness Rising.’ There is an epic quest to save the Realms, customizable player-controlled mounts, and new champion weapons. It’s a chance to serve your king and become a true Champion of the Realms,” says Jeff Hickman, Executive Producer for “Dark Age of Camelot.” “For MMORPG fans who have yet to discover ‘Camelot’ and its unique Realm vs Realm game play, they'll find everything they need in the ‘Epic Edition.’”

“Darkness Rising” is included, along with the original game and the five earlier expansions, in the new “Dark Age of Camelot: Epic Edition” which ships to retailers today. Suggested retail price is $39.99.

“Darkness Rising” requires the original “Dark Age of Camelot,” and “Catacombs” expansion to play. Former players returning to the game can re-activate their account, regain their original characters and take advantage of the online availability of the expansion.

A 14-day free trial of “Dark Age of Camelot,” which includes the original game as well as the “Shrouded Isles,” “Foundations,” and “New Frontiers” expansions, is available for download from www.darkageofcamelot.com/downloads. "
