Q: What is “instancing” and is it used in Age of Conan?
A:
Instancing is a term used to create a private version of a dungeon or area, usually used to prevent over-crowding or to offer a more involved experience to a player or group of players. There are instanced areas and events in the game, but they are not overdone to the point where you feel closed off from the rest of the game world.  There are also "social" instancies, allowing 100 players into the instance before a new instance is created.

The game takes full advantage of Windows Vista and DX10. Funcom has been working with Microsoft to make sure they make full use of the advantages of the operating system and the Direct X version. However, it will also be able to be played on Windows XP and DX9.

A:
Yes. While some controls will still need to be done through the keyboard (such as typing communication), you can connect a gamepad to move your character and join in combat.
