And I Will Hug Him, and
Squeeze Him, and Call Him George!

In most of the modern MMORPGs, the existence of pets is almost an
essential. Players love collecting the little critters and enjoy
watching them and their fun little animations. The players of Lineage
II are particularly fond of their pets, so much so that the developers
elected to write a developer diary about this process. The Ten Ton
Hammer staff has hosted the dev diary for everyone to read and enjoy!

Fenrirs are also special because players can use them
as mounts—when
summoned, they can climb on the pet and use it in battle. Previously,
Striders were the only common mountable pet (clan leaders who
controlled castles could summon and mount Wyverns, but that is a
special case). Besides looking cool, there are some real tangible
benefits to mounting a pet.
