Patch 1.7 Briefing

Posted April 29th, 2008 by Taea

Breaking Patch Notes Into Bite Sized Pieces

The development team for Richard Garriott’s Tabula Rasa is always working to improve the game. This is evidenced in the latest patch, 1.7, to hit the Live servers today. There is a lot to read in the notes, so Ten Ton Hammer has broken down the most important things players need to know.

If you give a Bane a cookie, he’ll get pissed and call his friends. Social aggro, also known as the Bring-A-Friend mechanic is in place: Attack with caution. At the outset the mechanic was still a little buggy, with cries of players pulling 20+ mobs on themselves. In unrelated news, hospital medics have reported a sudden shortage of Trauma Kits.

Excellent find, Flubberhead!

We are working on the female avatars in an effort to make them more beautiful.
One could only hope the same will happen for the males. I expect larger shoulders and tighter abs.

Ranger and Spy ability changes are in. Social aggro is in.

basicly it means right and left mouse button.

Right click for target, left click for self for single target tools

Right click for Radial left click for Conical (I think that's the way around it was...) for AoE tools.

Now a side note: I reset some things when I went to PTS including key bindings... I'm not sure if those were the default, I may have manually bound them that way.

Now see, Coffey, as it is right now only my left click does any tool use/weapon fire. My right button is for turning and movement. I don't like what they're saying about self-heal/repairing either. I'm quite used to dropping target or changing my view down to target myself.

'Course I see this only applies to the AoE tools, not the Direct ones, but it still seems a big change in game play.

It was a bit.... odd to start with I admit, but you get used to it.

I have seen a few complaints about the way tools are around the traps and honestly the single-target tools annoyed me sometimes, looking in a certain direction sometimes meant healing a turret instead of myself so I had to be careful but that I got used to as well. On that front I understand the change completely.

I wonder a little about combining the Conical/Radial tools but I think some people were a little unhappy ...

The turrets an Engineer can summon have had their health and damage reduced because of an improvement to their AI.
THIS is going to be unpopular. I'm sure some of us will deal with this just fine, but the "Average Gamer" engineers out there are going to kick up a stink. Attacking what is seen as the ONLY working Engineer skill is sure to be controversial.

I urge players to remain calm about it and give it a fair shake before getting too upset...
