With the expansion of massively multiplayer gaming, it seems like every game genre is receiving its own MMO gaming experience. For those players that loved Ogre Battle and other turn-based strategy type games, Atlantica Online may be for you! In our latest exclusive dev diary, the Atlantica Online developers explain their "mercenary system" which is what players will use to organize their squad of minions. To learn more, keep reading!

How you position your mercenaries in a battle is also a strategic choice. You must arrange your characters in a three-by-three grid. You might prefer to have your swordsmen mercenaries, who possess the greatest defensive strength, to be in the front row nearest your opponent. Your monk, with the weaker defense ability, would probably be better off in the back. If a mercenary’s health points are decimated in a battle, he can be revived after the battle by a potion or at a hospital to fight another day.

Atlantica Online Takes Players to Ancient China with Three Kingdoms Update

Atlantica Online is taking its players back to ancient times with its Three Kingdoms update. The update recently deployed to live servers and is deeply rooted the history of the Three Kingdoms of ancient China: Shu, Wu and Wei. The update adds a new mercenary, whose name will be familiar to anyone that knows the Romance of the Three Kingdoms saga, Guan Yu. Guan Yu, a once feared and respected general of Liu Bei, now lends his power as a high-level mercenary to Atlantica Online players.

A new dungeon is also included in the update based on the popular historical Battle of Red Cliffs, one of the most iconic battles in Chinese history. Check out the official announcement and trailer after the break for more details. A detailed list of patch notes are also available for the update.
