Print media falling on hard times.

When the news came out that GFW (Games For Windows), my favorite offline/written with real-words-on-paper gaming magazine, was going to "online only" I was pretty bummed. I like having magazines around to read when I, well you know, wait for the bus (wink). I've continued being bummed as more and more of that original 1UP crew has weened themselves off of 1Up.com as they've gone off to greener pastures (Sean Malloy I'm looking at you and your job at Blizzard!).

Now we get word that another Ziff-Davis mag is possibly going in the dumper, actually a couple of them as Kotaku sends word of another magazine house cleaning in the making at Ziff. The first and foremost for us gamers is EGM (Electronic Gaming Monthly). While not specific to MMOs, they are one of the few remaining print media that even discusses PC gaming. The other publication hanging in the balance (which is a bigger surprise for me) is PC Magazine. I've subscribed to that publication off and on for well over a decade. There are some really good people out there with their careers hanging in the balance, and I wish you all the best!
