Runeforge

How to Win Friends and Influence Enemies is the next quest you’ll be taking on. You’ll be given an Ornately Jeweled Box in your inventory.

Runeforge

Open it to receive Keleseth’s Persuaders. Equip both of them and begin walking around searching for Scarlet Crusade members to stab with the pointy ends of the knives.

Runeforge

When they tell you that they’ll talk stop hitting them so that you don’t kill them and wait for a quest update. Then return to Keleseth for 2 talent points and 85 silver. He’ll give you Behind Scarlet Lines next.

On the map head to the tavern and that is where your turn in spot is at. Turn it in and pick up The Path of the Righteous Crusader and Brothers in Death. Make sure to get both! Go to the hold (marked keep on the map) and there are two locations you will need to go to.

In the top room you’ll find the patrol schedule guarded by Rodrick a pretty tough guy. Go ahead and take him out. Now go to the bottom (very bottom, near the staircase on the first floor is the path into the basement) and find Koltira. Turn in and pick up Bloody Breakout which will start an event (unless it’s already going which you can get midway).

Runeforge

You’ll need to defend him until Valroth shows up.

Runeforge

Chew through Valroth and loot his head off the ground (it spawns for everyone). In the screenshot above you can see the red guts looking stuff? That's "lootable" for his head. Now return to the tavern.

A Cry for Vengeance leads to the nearby chapel where you can turn it in and pick up A Special Surprise. This quest is so easy. Just go into the nearby house, talk to the NPC that you’re instructed to (it’ll match your race) and wait. Just… wait.

Runeforge

Then kill the NPC and turn your quest in. That’ll lead to A Sort of Homecoming which brings you right to the tavern and Ambush At the Overlook. On the map you can see the Overlook marked. Go there, use the makeshift cover, and just shred through the courier then return. A Meeting with Fate is next and it’s just as simple.

Runeforge

You’ll be turned into a Scarlet Crusade member. Just walk down to the harbor (it’s near the same area) and talk to the NPC. Turn in the quest and get The Scarlet Onslaught Emerges. Walk back to the tavern, turn it in, go through the portal with your new quest, get the next one, go back down and bam you’re in phase 3. Turn it in to the lich king and get An End To All Things…

Runeforge

Alright this quest has you riding a Frost Wyrm and if there was any purpose to this guide then this would be it. This is the hardest part of the entire quest line. You must use a flying siege weapon known as a Frost Wyrm to kill 150 Scarlet Crusade members and 10 Ballista. The difficulty is in the fact that your ride controls very poorly, needs lots of mana to attack, and can easily be destroyed.

Here is how combat works. You'll have a target like you had with the turrets earlier.

Runeforge

You need to fly in close enough to get credit, which is within their attack range. If you’re not flying then use the Horn of the Frostbrood to summon your flying wyrm. Start spamming 1 as you get into the attack area (the area with the tavern and around there). Just start spamming the 1 key targeting crusaders and ballista. Ballista will take multiple hits. Keep moving and dodging the ballista bolts.

Runeforge

As you can see above, it's pretty obvious when they're about to hit you. You can fly up to avoid them or just keep moving forward and up. When your health or mana gets low, target a crusader, swoop down close, and press 2 to eat them. This will regen your mana and health and help keep you going. If you get your wyrm killed then you’ll be knocked off and depending on where you land… you’ll probably die.

Once this quest is complete pick up The Lich King’s Command and go through the tunnel in the north west area of Death’s Breach. You’ll eventually get to Mograine who will give you The Light of Dawn.

Runeforge

Wait until the battle starts (you’ll be beefed up a considerable bit) and just have fun. The event plays out with a cutscene towards the end. You can’t lose (or by that value “win” the battle, just have fun). After that is done you’ll get a quest called Taking Back Acherus (you’ll need to use your Death Gate spell afterward to get to your quest objective) then pick up The Battle For The Ebon Hold. This quest is difficult or easy depending on how many people are around.

You don’t need to have Patchwerk tagged in order to get credit for his kill. You just need to attack him. There are elite Death Knights on the floor who can help you kill him in case there is no one around. He’s easy and you’re buffed up still from the previous fight so just go all out on him. When you’re done, return upstairs to get either Where Kings Walk or Warcheif’s Blessing. These are easy. Go to the king or thrall to turn in the quest by using one of the portals and walking there. You’re now done.

Congrats! You can now take your Death Knight anywhere. Return to the Death Knight Guide main page for more Death Knight info!

Nice solid guide, thanks for putting it together.

Here are a few thoughts as I read through it:

Would be nice to see some Tanking and 2H talent builds, I didn't look at the Blood build but both Frost & Unholy you had DW builds.

For racials, the biggest appeal for a Night Elf is Quickness, and for the min/maxer's out there this is the reason why NE's are the best Alliance tanking race over Dwarves.

Human racials

Hi, good guide, I just have to respectfully object to this:

Humans have the weakest set of racials, except when it comes to grinding for reputation.

That may have been true at one time, but nowadays, humans come with Sword Specialization (+3 expertise) and Every Man for Himself (free PVP trinket without using the trinket slot? yes please!). Add to that the aforementioned Diplomacy (+10% rep gains) and you have a solid basis to push all the way to 80.

Xerin, I'll compile some DK builds for addition to the guide if you want. I know they're making changes at the moment for 3.1 so I might wait until those start to settle out a bit, but that would probably be helpful to people.
