Official AoC Forums

Server Merge Information
This week brought the first attempt and eventual delay of the first server merger between 'Bloodspire' and 'Hyperborea'. Funcom US Community Manager Glen "Famine" Swan has been pumping out information all week relating to the upcoming merges and addressing concerns by many members of the community. KotchaYankinov of the Official AoC Forums had some concerns about the loss of the RP PvP tag during the mergers. While this will only happen in one case Famine was quick to reply and try to explain the move.

We are not taking away the RP rule set from all the players. As I mentioned before, we have every intention of keeping PvE, PvP and PVP-RP. Yes the server merge of the first set does remove the PVP-RP aspect of one server but not all servers. This can be looked at as not a huge issue as everyone can transfer over to the other PVP-RP server(s). However on the other hand it can with one main concern with RP guilds on the first set which is majority of the feedback in this thread from what I have gathered.

This concern is something we can look at from a distance but understand that all changes to any system brings it's pluses and negatives. If we can remove the negative aspect of any change we will. There is no secret evil master plan to cause concerns just to cause them.

We will try to look at everything as much as we can and feedback does have heavy influence on change.

In case you don't read the main forums...
As the title implies, in case you don't read the forums you may have missed the first announced server merger. As the first merger will include two servers of different rulesets Hyperboria (RP-PvP) and Bloodspire (PvP) players will be offered a free character transfer if they are unhappy with the new merged ruleset. With this merger the RP-PvP tag will be removed and the normal PvP ruleset will apply. Funcom US Community Manager Glen "Famine" Swan dropped in to reinforce this point and address some questions about Bane server.

Hey guys,

I just wanted to pop in and say that I will be looking out on the status of Bane for you as much as I can. We obviously have not released any info concerning the other servers and Bane is in the same boat. Soon as we get more information we will let you know but of course the above quote is true. You will be given a free character transfer to any server after the merges are said and done.

PvP

Glen "Famine" Swan has been actively communicating with the community about the upcoming server mergers.

Question about names on inactive accounts
With the inevitable server mergers looming over the horizon many people have become concerned about how names might be handled during the merger. After all, us gamers take our names very seriously. Heavy sentimental value and such. This thread provides a wealth of information on that topic as Funcom's US Community Coordinator Wayne "Yakomo" Soong dropped in to echo some of the information posted by Famine earlier this week in the Server Merger Faq.

What happens if several characters with the same name end up on the same server?
This depends on the following aspects and rules:
  • Is the character on a still active account?
  • If several characters of the same name are all from active accounts, the one with the higher level will keep his name.
  • If merged characters have the same level, the one from an account which is registered on a longer time base will keep the name (so 3 month recurring over 1 month recurring).
  • If characters are from accounts with the same subscription recurring time, the last login will decide which one keeps the name.
The other(s) will be prompted a message at the first attempt to log in with that character stating that a new name must be given to this character.

Things You Might Have missed

This week there has been a lot of information and discussion about the coming server mergers. Funcom US Community Manager Glen "Famine" Swan posted a wealth of information about the mergers this week and can be viewed at the following links.

AoC Ten Ton Hammer Threads of the Week

Bye bye Coyote
Ten Ton Hammer's very own Coyote will be moving on to other things after this month. The staff and community are bidding farewell to one of the most comical personalities this site has ever known. Coyote authored the Blog "Not Funny Ever" and costarred in the Podcast "Game Over" with RadarX. Coyote and his unique brand of comical humor will be missed. Say your farewells in this thread.

Weekly Funny with the Tuk

(The Weekly Funny is not reflective of the views of Ten Ton Hammer. That said, they are of mine.)

You can never really go wrong with cat comedy. This week I was browsing through Youtube and I came across a comical little compilation of catastrophic kitties. These cantankerous cats offer a good bit of comedy as they cause disaster and mayhem in the wake behind (and often times in front) of them. Enjoy this little video I call...
