From when we last left off you should now be in Coldarra where “The Nexus” is located. This is basically Malygos’ base of operations. Malygos is the aspect of magic (or basically a magical dragon dude) who is pretty mad at the Kirin Tor for using magic. He’s gone insane and the entire area is basically leading up to the instance. This part of the guide will walk you through this area all the way until you have a quest log ready to take on the Nexus.

If you’re not already there then head on to Coldarra to Transitus Shield via the flight path opened up through the last series of quests. When you land go ahead and open your map and remember where it’s at because you’ll be returning a decent bit.

You should have Transversing the Rift ready to be turned in. Go ahead and turn in that and begin picking up quests. You should have Read the Meters, Secrets of the Ancients, Basic Training, and Nuts for Berries. Have They no Shame is a dungeon quest for The Nexus so you can skip picking that up for now (or just get it to remove all of the yellow exclamation points).

All of the quests are done together at the same time so there is no specific order which is best. For me I went and did Read the Meters which had Ancients and Coldarra Spellweavers on the path along with Frostberries. Here are the instructions for each quest:

Basic Training: Coldarra Spellweavers are your target and ten of them need to be dead for this quest to be finished. It’s a pretty simple quest and should be completed in no time.

Nuts and Berries: Frostberry trees are on the ground all around where Ancients spawn but I found 33,23  and 23,35 to be two good coordinates for them. I found this quest to be the most difficult one just due to the massive amount of aggro around the area.

Secrets of the Ancients: Just kill “Ancients” until you have all of the materials.

Reading the Meters: The following coordinates host orbs that you need to click on. You can see their locations above in the pictures. 28,28 – 28,34 – 31,20 – 22,23

Once these quests are done you can return back and get the follow-ups. Actually if you’re in a situation where you’re near the outpost you can dip in and turn the quests in to get the next ones which can also be completed at the same time.

img

As a note, throughout your travels you may kill a Coldarra Spellbinder who will drop a Scintillating Fragment that gives the quest Puzzling… which has you turn it back in at town. We’ll work about this one later.

img

The next quest is Keep the Secret Safe and Hatching a Plan. This one is pretty easy. Kill five Coldarra Wyrmkin and then go around the base of the Nexus (if you really need a loc then use 29,26 where there were a lot of eggs for me) and bust open five of them. Return to the shield and pick up Drake Hunt.

img

Keep the Secret Safe is easy too. Kill the things you see in the screenshot five times and loot them five times and you'll be done. They roam the same area with the eggs.

img

Alright this quest is a really difficult one not because you have a chance at all of dying but finding a hatchling is difficult since this quest will turn into a daily quest later on. That means that a lot of players are going to want these hatchlings to complete the quest each day while you will just want it now for its sweet experience reward. Moving on you’re going to want to turn your camera up to the sky and look for flying hatchlings. Get as close as you can (there is a VERY VERY long range on the lance you’re given) and use it while the hatchling is targeted. A rope will extend out and the drake will be speared. Fight it a little bit (but don’t kill it) and it’ll eventually become your pet. Return to the shield with it.

img

Pick up Cracking the Code. This is when you’ll get Puzzling… if you haven’t already picked it up. This is a quest that took me awhile because there is just one boss and there may be a high demand for him. Anyway head to 32,26 where you’ll find Inquisitor Caleras. Kill him and loot at an Azure Codex and then kill enough spellbinders to get three Shimmering Runes. They spawn around him but don’t wait on those respawns because they walk all around the place.

img

img

Remember all the discussion about spellbinders? Well Puzzling… leads to The Cell which has you get two pieces of a magical cell. They are located at 24,29 and 27,20. Kill the guards around the bosses and then kill the bosses. Simple and easy. Return to turn it in and you’re going to get a prison cell in your inventory and the area will pretty much go silent.

img

A lot of players think that’s the end of the quest line but it’s not. Use the item you get from the quest to summon Keristrasza who gives you the quest… Keristrasza. Who didn’t expect that for a name of a quest? Anyway, turn the quest right back in to get Bait and Switch. You know those crystals you’ve seen all around the zone? Those are the next objectives and you only need ten. Just look for patches of them with little to no resistance.

img

img

img

Well when you have all ten crystals (it took me around 5 minutes to get them all) you can then resummon Keristrasza. You’ll get the quest Saragosa’s End which can’t be completed without talking to Keri and getting her to teleport you to Saragosa’s platform. There use the Arcane Power Focus to summon and weapon Saragosa and just quickly kill it. Wait until the cooldown on the prison cell is done and resummon Keri to get the next quest Mustering the Reds and then speak with her again to get a teleport back to Transitus Shield. There Raelorasz will give you Springing the Trap and a flare named after himself.

img

img

img

Use the flare at 25,21 (on the ground level near the entrance to The Nexus) and Keristrasza will show up and fly you around an epic battle against Malygos. During each stage of this quest stay close to Keri so you can get credit. Sadly, to spoil the story, the red dragons lose the fight and it’s indeed nothing more than a diversion. You’ll hit the ground, Keri will become Malygos’s consort and you’ll be given a follow-up into The Nexus to “free” her.

At this point my best advice for you is to queue up for The Nexus. You’ll have Quickening, Postponing the Inevitable, Have they No Shame, and Prisoner of War which is enough experience to get you to reach level 72 at this point if you’ve been working off of some rested experienced.
