Shaman Patron Guide - Hayatet

Shaman Patron Guide - Hayatet, The Phoenix

By Dalmarus

It's taken 15 levels, but you're finally ready to pick a patron and claim your rightful powers of the spirit world. You could pick Tuurgin the Bear, or Rakurr the Wolf, but you don't really want to be a flea-ridden animal, do you? Of course not. Choose Hayatet, and the power of the Phoenix shall be yours!

Where Do I Start?

I chose an orc as my shaman, so at level 15, my quest began with the shaman instructor in Martok, called Warseer Gnoth. He will tell you that you have progressed far beyond his teaching and thus lacks the knowledge to guide you further along your path. He tells you that you must instead seek out a shaman named Caelrial Brightshadow within the foothills of Jalen's Crossing.

Warseer Gnoth

The Trek to Caelrial Brightshadow

It's during this trek that you realize the real reason why Warseer Gnoth hasn't progressed far enough along to guide you on your spiritual path further. As an orc, getting to Caelrial Brightshadow was a severe pain. Gnoth doesn't bother to mention a couple important facts to you before you head out. Not only is it going to be a very long journey, but you're going to be KOS to everything on the way down there. If you choose to do so, you could grind enough faction to travel safely through the lands, but it is possible to get through without taking the time to do this. Since you've been waiting 15 levels to finally get your pet, I'd suggest going this route.

The quickest way to get to her is to first head over to the Martok Port and hop a ride to Khal. As an orc, be careful not to wander around here unless you've already taken the time to get your faction with the city up. Go up the stairs leading to the dock (they are right beside you) and head over. Go to the dock and talk to Captain Neherit and tell him to send you to Tanvu.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Unless at some point during your extensive 15 level career you have taken the time to specifically build up faction with Tanvu, do not attempt to go through the town. While the fisherman on the docks may only be level 1, the guards that are just a few meters further away are level 40 4-dots.

As soon as you port into Tanvu, immediately swim across the water. There are various mobs you can kill here for good faction with Tanvu, but I chose not to. The safest route to go after crossing the water is to simply follow the road. While it is possible to do this, pay attention! There are a number of mobs, especially as you get closer to Jalen's Crossing that are red and purple to you at 15. Caution is your friend during this trip. Just use your head and you'll be talking to Caelrial in no time.

You've Survived the Trek!

So you've survived your harrowing journey and have finally found Caelrial. As you talk with her, Caelrial tell you that the spirits foretold of your coming and it is good to meet one so young with such wisdom. She warns that you will be tested at every step on your journey to the spirits. As a side note, the text of these quests needs to be changed. There does not appear to be any trials at all any more. I never fought a single mob during this quest.

After greeting you, she will offer to tell you of the three spirits. As I'm sure you've guessed by the title, I chose Hayatet the Phoenix for my patron spirit. After explaining the different aspects of each spirit, she asks if you understand that you can only choose one to follow. After telling her you do, Caelrial will ask you to choose a patron spirit. Choose Hayatet, and she will inform you your journey will take you to Qalia. Specifically, you will be going southwest of Lomshir to speak with one known as Korhal the Ancient.

Korhal the Ancient

To leave Caelrial, I chose to use Recall to get away from the dangers of Tanvu. I happen to already be bound in Qalia, but if you're not, go back to the Martok Port and go to Khal again. As long as you stay out of any cities, you should have no problems finding Korhal. This was the easiest part of the journey yet. Just follow the roads and you won't have any problems.

When you talk with Korhal, it looks like you need to have the three patrons explained to you again. You don't. Just go to the bottom of the list and you'll see you current quest, "Follow Hayatet: The Path", there for you to choose. Like all the other shamans you've met so far, he speaks briefly of how he sensed your coming. After briefly describing how the fires of Hayatet burn within you, he will instruct you on the final leg of your journey. You must travel to the cliff's edge and locate the Altar of Rebirth. Lay your hands upon the altar there and bathe within its flames. Korhal says if you are worthy, the spirit of Hayatet will appear before you.

To reach the Altar of Rebirth, just turn to your right and take the path up the hill. At the top of the path, turn to your right and you'll see it a short distance away on the edge of the cliff. Right click on the stone obelisk behind the flames. Remain within the flames until the "Summoning Hayatet" bar finishes filling up. At this point, you'll be teleported to a small island just off the coast. Speak to Hayatet to complete your quest. Hayatet will speak of your wisdom, the Fires of Rebirth, and how others will depend on your strength.

So What Do I Get?

After Hayatet vanishes, you will get a message that you have learned Spirit Walk of Hayatet. Go to your Abilities and cast it from the General section. It will take a few moments, but you will learn 3 new abilities:

Wings of Hayatet I - You don the wings of Hayatet, becoming her avatar, increasing fire resistance by 30 and the damage of fire spells by 20%. Fire spells are also 8% more likely to cause critical hits. You also gain the ability to levitate above the ground. Taking the form of a spirit grants you 5% increased mitigation plus increased health and energy regeneration (regenerate 11 health and 12 energy every 4 seconds).

Summon Attendant of Hayatet - Summons a spirit attendant. This attendant is a trusted lieutenant of Hayatet and will server you until dismissed.

Fire Claw I -  Strikes your opponent with a fiery claw, dealing 69 to 75 damage and an additional 169 to 181 damage over 16 sec.

Conclusion

It's been a wild ride, but you've finally made it. Congratulations! You're now a follower of Hayatet the Phoenix!
