12.22.06 - ATD: Risk vs. Reward in Crafting

I have read numerous posts on the crafting system that explain it will be a sphere that can be pursued separately from the other spheres. In the adventuring sphere it's typical for players to take more risk with the hope of greater rewards like loot or experience. Since the pursuit of crafting will be largely independent of such adventuring risks, will risk versus reward opportunities be available for crafters? And if so, how will such a feature be incorporated in the game?

Yes, risk versus reward will certainly exist for crafters. Mostly this will involve risking rare materials or catalysts to make better products. Poor performance in normal work orders usually means you will be paid nothing or only a tiny bit. Crafting quests and advanced work orders will hold more risk, and thus more reward. Crafting quests could also involve exploration which can be hazardous to a crafter’s health.
