Community Members to the Rescue!

January 21st, 2008 - By Dalmarus

Before rambling about anything else, let's get some real news out there for the community!

First up, the spell list updates are underway, starting this week with the Blood Mage list, levels 1 to 25. I'll be posting this on the site Tuesday. While I call it a spell list update, I've decided that these are actually spell list rebuilds. I wasn't particularly happy with the look of our current spell lists and have decided to make some changes.

The biggest change is that all spells will have their corresponding spell icons added to the lists. It may not seem like much, but it's an important addition. If I had to, I probably couldn't explain why, but it really does make a difference to me. Maybe it's for ease of spell recognition, or something else. If you happen to have a more coherent answer, be sure to drop in and let me know!

Along with the above mentioned spell icons though, I'm also adding additional information such as Blood Union increases (or reductions) to the Blood Mage lists, etc. One point of contention here though is the way spells are shown on the trainers, because let's face it... if my main isn't quite 50 yet, there's no way I'm going to get all the classes to 50. Why does this matter, you ask? Because if you don't actually have the spell in question, there's no way to tell what the energy cost, range, or duration of the spells are.

Necromancer + Wyvern = Happiness!

This is where you come into play! If you have a class at level 50, and also have the desire/patience to do so, please send me an email here of your spell lists with the energy cost of each. If you don't feel like doing all the spells for all 50 levels, (and believe me, I can truly understand that) you can still help by even just picking one level range and sending me those. Not only will you be helping me, but you'll also be helping your fellow players out!

The other important item of note with this spell list rebuild I've insisted on doing is due to the time involved for each rebuild, they'll be coming out once per week rather than the twice per week as I had originally planned. That means a potential time of 30 weeks for an update of all the classes. It also means that a class you feel may need some attention may not be updated for quite some time. If you think your chosen class needs an update sooner than later, take the time to let me know in this thread!

In other news, this past Friday I put up a poll asking the community which mount they were going to attempt to get and why. I wanted to find out how many would base their desires purely on stats or if they would be character driven. I was surprised (and happily so) to discover the majority of players said they would choose their flying mounts based upon character reasons rather than stats. Also of note, the wyvern is currently in the lead for most popular mount choice!

As an evil necromancer that chose to be a lich rather than a wraith for my undead form, I can't wait to have that wyvern!
