A Time of Change

The time has finally come, my friends. For months, we've been waiting patiently for Vanguard: Saga of Heroes to have a free trial so we could spread the word and convince our friends to give the game a try. While many of us in the community have spent our hard earned cash on a number of Collector's Editions so we could give the buddy keys away, I'm practically ecstatic with the knowledge that now I can just email all my friends a link to get them up and ready to go. In case you've been under a rock this week and haven't seen it, here's the page to send all your friends to: Isle of Dawn - Vanguard 14 day trial.

Will the addition of the free trial be enough for Vanguard to finally build its population to the levels we all know it should have? Only time will tell, but I think it's the best chance the game has had to come into its own with the gaming community so far. Fortunately for all of us though, that's not all that's going on to spread the word.

"Y-M-C-A"

Another 30-day account reactivation period has begun to commemorate this auspicious occasion. From September 18th through October 18th, players with an account that has been inactive for the last 60 days or more will be able to log back into the game free of charge. This of course comes with a few conditions, the main one being your account had to be in good standing. That means the folks that managed to get themselves banned are out of luck. Free play time and a new trial aren't the only new things to come to the Vanguard community this week. On top of everything else, our Community Representative, Ellyra, has moved on. She hasn't done anything as drastic as just arbitrarily abandoning the game though, so don't be too upset. Ellyra is now one of the newest developer's of the upcoming Sony Online Entertainment Free Realms game, so a big congratulations is definitely in order! Even though I pestered her with more questions about various news and content than most people would be able to stand, Ellyra was always quick with an answer and a smile. From the crew here at Ten Ton Hammer, we wish her the greatest of successes in her new position! Be sure to give her a hearty congratulation in her farewell post!

So where does that leave the Vanguard community faithful? I'll be taking over all community relation duties for Vanguard. There will be no need to go to any other site, except ours.

Ok, maybe that's not really true, but I couldn't resist. Please give a huge Ten Ton Hammer welcome to SOE's new Vanguard Community Representative, Amnerys! While she may be bucking the system by not having a name that begins with an "E", she's already proven she's perfectly capable to deal with our rowdy selves and has been a lot of fun on the forums already. Be sure to say hello in her introduction thread!
