To Chat or Not To Chat?

week will be quick and to the point, at least relative to my normal
ramblings. We take our poll topic today directly from our href="http://forums.tentonhammer.com/forumdisplay.php?f=38">forum

In this week's newsletter, href="http://vanguard.tentonhammer.com/index.php?module=ContentExpress&func=display&ceid=857">An
Influx of Players, I discussed the addition of players that
have come to Vanguard due to a combination of the recent account
reactivation and players getting the game for the holidays. While I
think the addition of new players is a great thing, the number of
players that are on to disrupt the enjoyment of others has also
increased.

While discussing this in the forums, Delfina href="http://forums.tentonhammer.com/showthread.php?t=22485">mentioned
that she had turned off regional chat and gets the majority of her
questions answered from her guild. She suggested I may find
that a number of players do the same thing, perhaps even more than I
may think.



Since the amount of aggravation can sometimes be high after reading all
the regional chat as it scrolls across the screen, I think she has a
valid point. While I can't do it myself, I certainly understand the
temptation to do so. After discussing this with a few friends, I was
surprised to find that a few of them do the same thing.



All of this new information makes it obvious that a poll on the topic
is needed, so here we go!

I've turned regional chat off permanently.

This choice is for those individuals that have turned regional chat off
and do not turn it back on at any time. If you're one of those people,
choose this!

I turn region chat on/off once in a while.

For those people that sometimes turn regional chat on, but leave it off
most of the time, this choice is for you! Note - If you switch to a
different chat window just while in a group or raid that does not have
regional chat on it, this does not count, as I imagine most, if not
all, players do the same.

I've turned everything off except group and guild chat.

While this may sound like the same thing as the "never turn region chat
on" category, it's actually a little different. This is for those that
have turned off auction, shout, and have not turned on crafting or
diplomacy.

I'm so uber, I don't turn on any chat windows!

While I doubt this applies to anyone, I felt obligated to put this in
here on the off chance that someone actually does this.

I don't turn any of the channels off.

Obviously, there are probably people that never turn any of the
channels off, but also don't add new ones. Again, turning off channels
for the sole purpose of being in group or raid chat does not count
against this choice.

Not only do I not turn channels off, but I add extras!

This is for anyone that doesn't remove channels, but also adds extras
that are not on by default, such as the crafting channel.
