Turbine Threatens to Ban Skirmish Mark Exploiters in LotRO

Posted Thu, Jan 14, 2010 by Martuk

Turbine has discovered an exploit in the Skirmish system that was introduced with the Siege of Mirkwood expansion for The Lord of the Rings Online that would allow players to gain huge amounts of Skirmish Marks over a short period of time and they have issued a heavy-handed warning to those that would make an effort to use the exploit.

We are aware of an exploit that can allow a player to acquire more skirmish marks than intended. This issue is very easy to track, and any player found using the exploit will have their account immediately banned without appeal. Our GMs will be extra vigilant in monitoring this issue; please remember that the Code of Conduct expressly prohibits exploits. Thank you for your cooperation!

As you might expect some people were concerned that they might accidently stumble onto the exploit and be banned without appeal, but Turbine's Community Specialist, Sapience, assured the community that this is not something you can do by accident.

This is not something you can do by accident. It requires very specific and deliberate effort to perform. Because of this there is nothing to debate or appeal.
