PoxNora is a turn-based online multiplayer strategy game developed by Sony Online Entertainment's (SOE) Tucson Studio. The game recently launched a Facebook application, making it SOE's first Facebook game. Ten Ton Hammer recently caught up to PoxNora Community Manager, Tony 'RadarX' Jones to ask about future plans for PoxNora and its Facebook launch.

Ten Ton Hammer: Could you introduce yourself to our readers and explain what it is you do for PoxNora?

Tony Jones: My name is Tony Jones and I’m the Community Manager for SOE’s Tucson studio. A Community Manager’s job varies daily, but it mainly consists of understanding player’s concerns, communicating information and showing everyone just what an awesome game we have. I typically answer new player questions, write features on how to play, or relay gameplay feature additions in future Game Updates. This isn’t a solo mission either. Community Managers work closely with other departments to insure we are doing everything we can for our community. I wear a lot of hats, but ultimately I get to spend more time directly interacting with our players than anyone else.

style="font-style: italic;">PoxNora received a UI revamp with its last update.

Ten Ton Hammer: PoxNora recently received a new update aimed at making User Interface a little more streamlined. Can you tell us about the changes and how this will help new and old players alike?

Tony Jones: We were really excited about the User Interface revamp. Essentially, it removed the ability buttons with text next to them and replaced them with more appealing icons. Our veterans will enjoy a lower chance of accidentally clicking an ability while new players will have much more intuitive system to learn. Another feature of the revamp was adding an expanding Rune Dock which slides out as you draw runes. This replaces the row of grey runes we had at the top and shows more of the map. Overall we’re very pleased with how it turned out and players seem to be enjoying it, which is the most important part!

Ten Ton Hammer: With the new update the game also received its 5th mid-term expansion, Heirs to Legend. What is a mid-term expansion and what has it added to the game?

Tony Jones: Traditionally PoxNora released a “midterm” between expansions. This content serves as an appetizer to re-engage players during the expansion development cycle. It accomplishes two things: first, it releases new content which players always enjoy, and second, it allows players to adjust what we call the “meta.” The meta refers to the most popular builds in the game and these midterms cause a shift and inevitably opens up new play options.

Ten Ton Hammer: Can you tell us a little about the new Legendary Content and Champions? What future plans do you have for this sort of content in PoxNora?

style="margin: 10px; border-collapse: collapse; float: left; width: 200px; height: 105px;"

PoxNora has streamlined the Champion Leveling System and allows different rune combinations.

Tony Jones: Legendary Content is replacing our current midterm program. Traditionally midterms have always been tied to the existing expansion, not only in story but also in mechanics. Heirs to Legend broke away from that by having its own separate lore and champions. Future Legendary Content releases will be like mini-expansions and progress the story of PoxNora while providing exciting new champions for players to try out.

Ten Ton Hammer: How will the Champion Rune Leveling system work?

Tony Jones: The Champion leveling system has been completely streamlined. Champions can now gain two levels and receive the option of one of four upgrades at each one. This allows players to customize their champions and feel a sense of progression as they play. The best part is they can change which upgrades they want to use at any time. Creating different combinations is a really fun part of learning to play PoxNora.

Ten Ton Hammer: PoxNora recently became SOE’s first Facebook game. How has the reception of the game been and have you seen an upswing of Facebook players?

Tony Jones: The reception to the Facebook portal has been quite remarkable. Inside Social Games identified us as one of the top 15 fastest growing Facebook games two weeks in a row. We’re seeing a wave of new players trying out PoxNora, which is very exciting. As a company, we are providing as much support as we can for the Facebook community including giving away a free battlegroup just for registering.

Ten Ton Hammer: Do you have plans to expand to other networking platforms such as MySpace, iPhone, and the Playstation Network?

style="border: 0px solid ; width: 200px; height: 116px;" />

style="font-style: italic;">PoxNora recently launched on Facebook and is continuing to add features requested by the community.

Tony Jones: We are always looking at ways to expand PoxNora into other markets. I can’t discuss definitive plans, but I wouldn’t say anything is off the table.

Ten Ton Hammer: What sort of plans do you have for PoxNora moving forward?

Tony Jones: PoxNora is going to continue doing what it does best, providing fun and strategic content. There are some exciting things coming up for our next expansion that I’m positive our players are going to really enjoy, including features our community has been asking about for a long time. This will be a great year for PoxNora.

Ten Ton Hammer: Do you have anything else that you would like to share with our readers?

Tony Jones: PoxNora is easily one of the most robust games on Facebook and anyone can try it completely free. We have player versus player, single player, and countless champions you can level, providing one of the most immersive experiences you can find online.
