In the modern age of MMOG gaming, few IPs that generate a decent following are left without a game. Battlestar Galactica, Tom and Jerry, and many others have been turned into an MMOG of some sort and this week another popular IP is joining the gaming world with the announcement that SpongeBob Squarepants will be getting his own MMOG. Gamasutra reports that Viacom division MTV Networks Asia has reached an agreement with Singaporean developer GigaMedia Limited to co-develop the game. SpongeBob will be free-to-play and is set to launch in multiple languages throughout China, Korea, Japan, Taiwan, Southeast Asia, and India. So for the moment it doesn't look like everyone's favorite sponge will be getting a western client. This could change as the game gets further in development. So stay tuned and we'll update you when we have new details.
