The Elder Dragons of Guild Wars 2

Updated Mon, Sep 13, 2010 by Xerin

The primary enemy in Guild Wars 2 will not be the Unseen Ones nor the Charr themselves, who have now become a playable race. Instead we'll be facing off against five amazingly powerful Elder Dragons who have ravaged Tyria, shut down access to Cantha and Elona, and are wrecking havoc everywhere. Just who are these nefarious dragons and what are they doing in Tyria? Find out here at Ten Ton Hammer.

Zhaitan will be the primary antagonist at the start of Guild Wars 2 and rightfully so. He awakens in 1219 AE (131 years after Lion’s Arch is retaken and 106 years before the start of GW2) on the sunken peninsula that once contained the great human Kingdom of Orr. As he awakes he brings the landmass back from the seabed causing massive damage from the tidal waves to the nearby Corsairs calling the broken islands of Orr their home, as well as the coasts along southern Tyria (flooding Lion’s Arch in the process).

The Elder Dragons of GW2 takes a look at the five Elder Dragons, who they are, when they awaken, and more. Be sure to stay tuned here to Ten Ton Hammer for Gamescom 2010 coverage.
