One of the great things about The Lord of the Rings Online (LotRO) is that you can kill orcs, goblins, and all sorts of dark creatures, and thanks to the Outfit System introduced with Book 12: The Ashen Wastes you can look good while doing it. unfortunately, the Outfit System created another problem, mainly the excessive amounts of items we hoard to swap out for our characters at times. Luckily, Volume 3: Book 2 will help address this issue with the new Wardrobe System, a feature that will allow you to copy an item's appearance and store it for later use. Elliot “Avon” Gilman details the new feature in his latest LotRO developer diary, explaining that the new system functions much like the Outfit System, but the Wardrobe System will be able to store up to 20 item appearances initially with additional slots available via the LotRO Store.

A major difference between the wardrobe and other types of storage is that an item moved into the wardrobe is copied; the original item will remain whereever it originated. The wardrobe will copy key information, such as the item’s name, appearance, description, and color, leaving the original untouched. What you decide to do with the original item is up to you and has no impact on its doppelganger in the wardrobe. You may decide to delete or sell the original to free up storage space elsewhere, or if the item is not bound to you, you can give it away to a friend. In a lot of ways this functionality is similar to how the outfit system works. You are never really moving clothing to an outfit slot but rather the outfit system copies the appearance to that slot.
