APB: Reloaded returns this week with its 11th blog. Joining the discussion this week is Designer Zak "Qwentle" Littwin, who chose to tease a few details about the game's future content and outline gameplay and progression changes scheduled for the start of closed beta.

As was hinted in week 10's blog, Littwin covered some of the cheat detection plans for APB. But the meaty parts of the blog go on to detail weapon modifications that will up the damage of some weapon and decrease the recoil to make combat smooth and more fun. Core game progression is also getting some work. Organizational standing has been removed and rewards have been better balanced and should come at less random points.

The first thing we did was remove organisation standing. It was a fairly obtuse mechanic that didn’t really fit into the game very well. Then we adjusted the contacts so they each fall under the category of either Weapons contacts or Vehicle contacts. As the names suggest – vehicle contacts unlock new vehicles, vehicle upgrades, and vehicle components, while weapons contacts now unlock preset weapons and character upgrades. All contacts unlock preset and customisable clothing options.

Additionally, some vehicles have gotten a little work over and Littwin also explains how free-to-play accounts will be balanced against premium accounts to make premiums desirable but not able to completely crush free-to-play players and even teases a little about leased weaponry.

Check out the full blog for all the details. Just be sure to grab a drink and a snack before you start. It's a rather lengthy read.
