Final Fantasy XIV (FFXIV) Producer/Director Naoki Yoshida has posted a new "Letter from the Producer" to clear up some misconceptions that players had following his last letter about content releases for the game. In short, there are several teams working on a number of areas for the game, so the new holiday event won't impact that. And if it does get a little delayed, under the current circumstances, I think the community can cut the guys a little slack. There was a bit of a huge disaster in Japan that's still ongoing that you just might have heard about.

Today also marks the launch of the 1.17 update, adding new Notorious Monsters, bug fixes, battle changes and more. Additionally, the devs have launched the Grand Companies of Eorzea page, which details the grand champions of each nation and will have content beginning for each in the 1.17 patch. According to Yoshida, this will start a historic set of events that players should continue to watch.

The Grand Companies will do the nations of Limsa Lominsa, Gridania, and Ul’dah justice as their stalwart representatives, and related content such as quests will begin to go live in patch 1.17. We’ll also be seeing the rulers of each of the companies come forth. A historic set of events is primed to take place in Eorzea, so be sure to keep a sharp eye out!
