After taking Champions Online free-to-play earlier this year, Cryptic Studios has found itself on the less-favorable end of discontinuation from parent company Atari. According to a Gamasutra report, Atari called Cryptic a "discontinued operation" as of March 31st in an earnings report earlier today.

Atari will continue to support Cryptic's MMOG projects Star Trek Online and Champions Online and the developers other title, Neverwinter, will continue production as normal while Atari looks to sell the studio off.
