Massively recently caught sight of a new website that has Harry Potter fans buzzing with anticipation. The site titled Pottermore is currently little more than a teaser site that states, "Pottermore: Coming Soon" and contains the signature of Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling. But of particular interest is the YouTube page of J.K. Rowling, which contains a countdown clock that will run out this Thursday.

The Pottermore trademark page describes the trademark as owned by Warner Bros., who acquired MMO development powerhouse Turbine back in April 2010. Turbine is well-known for its MMORPGS that include Asheron’s Call, Dungeons and Dragons Online and The Lord of the Rings Online. The Pottermore “Goods and Services” section describes the project as:

Providing multiple-user access to a global computer information network; providing on-line chat rooms and electronic bulletin boards for transmission of messages among users in the field of general interest; providing on-line communications links which transfer the web site user to other local and global web pages; providing on-line facilities for real-time interaction with other computer users concerning topics of general interest.

The world of Harry Potter certainly has the lore and history to make for a rich MMO. We'll keep monitoring Pottermoor for new details, so stay tuned and we’ll update when we have more.
