Star Trek Online: The Traveler's Guide - Episode 4

Posted Thu, Feb 25, 2010 by Dalmarus

As The Traveler, I've explored our universe and beyond. I've seen things and been places you can't begin to comprehend. Who better then, to give you a guided tour of your own conceived notion of space? I would ask that you not reveal my identity to any of the crew though. I rather like it on this little vessel and would hate to leave.

Dalmarus may no longer be part of the Borg Collective, but he's still learning what it means to be One of One instead of many. The ship's counselor has advised that he attempt to experience the vastness of the universe for the sake of travel itself rather than always having a direct purpose.

"Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it" - George Santaya, human philosopher, Earth, 1905 A.D.

Rarely has such a phrase from Earth’s pre-warp era been more relevant. This week, Dalmarus felt the full weight of that statement as long-forgotten enemies of the Federation resurfaced. In the midst of all this madness, Dalmarus and the crew of the U.S.S. Abyssal Steed were deemed worthy of assistance by an ancient power, thus barely averting destruction of the universe once more.

THE CRYSTALLINE ENTITY

Able to consume all life on a planet, the Crystalline Entity is a being of immense power. Capable of warp speed, the Entity proved to be a strong adversary for Captain Jean Luc Picard and the crew of the U.S.S. Enterprise in 2368. Due to unfortunate circumstances, the Entity was destroyed shortly after real communication had been established. Starfleet Command had assumed the Entity was one of a kind. As Dalmarus and his crew discovered, they were wrong.

This new Entity was every bit as large as the first. It was also far more violent and destructive than its predecessor. No torpedoes + no mines = victory.

THE DOOMSDAY DEVICE

The Doomsday Device is a planet killer of epic proportions. Fueled by the very planets it destroys, the Device has a near-unlimited amount of power. Captain Kirk and the crew of the U.S.S. Enterprise discovered the Device was susceptible to damage internally and were able to disable it by detonating the engines of a Constitution-class ship in the maw of the beast. Dalmarus and crew used this knowledge to finally destroy this ancient weapon once and for all.

The Doomsday Device prepares to fire. Three Hargh'Peng torpedoes fired within will do the trick. Never fire your final salvo from this range..

THE GUARDIAN OF FOREVER

Ever since Captain Kirk and the crew of the U.S.S. Enterprise discovered the Guardian of Forever over 150 years ago, its location has been a closely guarded secret. The Federation placed the planet under quarantine as a secondary means of defense. An ancient artifact of immense power, the Guardian of Forever has the ability to send people through time. Though rarely helpful, the Guardian saw fit to send Dalmarus, along with his crew and ship, back in time to prevent the corruption of the present.

The Guardian has existed for generations. Preparing to be transported into the past. Thanks to the assistance of the Guardian, Miral was rescued.
