If you played The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion (Morrowind too!), you’ll likely recognize the Daedra featured in Zenimax’s “Creating ESO” feature for The Elder Scrolls Online (TESO) today. The malevolent scamp takes center stage today as Zenimax shows off new concept art from its creation and provides some insight into the personality of the creature.

In ESO, we wanted the scamp to have a big personality despite his diminutive stature. As always, we looked carefully at the existing art and lore for the scamp when we began creating concept art. Our artists wanted to capture the scamp’s agility and attitude in their concepts to give our animators a good base to work from, since animations would be so important in giving the scamp a unique feel.

Scamps are often summoned to perform simple tasks and often act as messengers or servants (and soon to be farmed for XPs). Despite TESO's more serious setting, scamps will be designed with some elements of humor that players will notice in their voice and from their "melodramatic death animation."You can get a look at their final incarnation in the video below. Be sure to check out the TESO website to get a look at some of the concept art and details behind the scamp’s development.
