Bethesda quietly announced oft-rumored MMO based on its massive Elder Scrolls franchise, The Elder Scrolls Online, yesterday. It didn't take long for leaked screenshots and concept art to see the light of day. If you happened to miss the news (don't kick yourself, it was a rather quiet blip compared to the sonic boom it could've been), Bethesda announced that its team at ZeniMax Online Studios has had the game in development for some time and plans a 2013 launch on PC and Mac.

The story of The Elder Scrolls online is set a millennium before the events of Skyrim, and pits all of Tamriel against the daedric prince, Molag Bal.

Time Magazine's Techland has just published a look at 17 Leaked The Elder Scrolls Online Screenshots that first appeared on All Games Beta. (Aesthetes take note--it would appear there's nary an ugly character model in sight.)
