Leaked Screenshots Reveal The Elder Scrolls Online

Bethesda quietly announced oft-rumored MMO based on its massive Elder Scrolls franchise, The Elder Scrolls Online, yesterday. It didn't take long for leaked screenshots and concept art to see the light of day. If you happened to miss the news (don't kick yourself, it was a rather quiet blip compared to the sonic boom it could've been), Bethesda announced that its team at ZeniMax Online Studios has had the game in development for some time and plans a 2013 launch on PC and Mac.

The story of The Elder Scrolls online is set a millennium before the events of Skyrim, and pits all of Tamriel against the daedric prince, Molag Bal.

Time Magazine's Techland has just published a look at 17 Leaked The Elder Scrolls Online Screenshots that first appeared on All Games Beta. (Aesthetes take note--it would appear there's nary an ugly character model in sight.)

Maybe I'm a jaded MMO player anymore, but I refuse to get excited about some random staged screen shots and concept art. Lets see some meat and potatoes of the game, a beta or something else solid. Great that Bethesda is doing an MMO, but when I play their games out of the box they don't always scream 'quality' or 'well QA'd software before release'

Time to go make a forum account on their site and be super friendly so I get picked for beta if not alpha! Weeee!

these are not leaked. These are all pictures from the newest issue of GI.

Which isn't out yet. Which means they weren't intended for release yet, and they were only supposed to appear in Game Informer. Which = leaked. Just sayin'.

it sounded awesome, and then i read it looks like they're ditching the very thing that makes elder scrolls so awesome; its organic levelling system. they're going to make you pick and choose. make classes.

sure, it makes a more clearly defined mmo. but it also destroys the very thing everyone wants from elder scrolls.

it's making a wow-clone mmo and tacking "elder scrolls" onto it.

i'm officially in the "skeptical" department on this one and smell another swtor.

We haven't had enough time in Tamriel to form a true opinion of The Elder Scrolls Online, but we do know everyone is dying to know how the game is so far, so our review in progress shares what we think of our experiences so far in the world of TESO.
