3 Upcoming MMOs to Blow Your Mind in 2022

After the release of Amazon’s New World, the MMO scene is expected to quiet down again. There are literally tens of millions of MMO fans out there, craving for the next World of Warcraft, Final Fantasy XIV, or Guild Wars. Are you one of these people?  If you are, you are probably wondering what 2022 (or beyond) keeps in store for you. Is there an upcoming MMO to blow your mind?

The good news is that there are a few promising titles. Pioner, Embers Adrift, and Lost Ark are all scheduled for release in 2022. How do they look, feel, and what do they have to offer? You must have dozens of questions. Let’s see if we can help answer them.

Pioner

Pioner is the first MMO that possibly deserves your attention. Why? Because it promises a lot. It is a mix of MMO, FPS, and RPG games with an emphasis on survival. While it is inspired by Escape from Tarkov, Stalker 2, and Metro Exodus, we are not talking about an ordinary open-world shooter.

The game is expected to arrive from a Russian studio by the name of GFA Games Studio, and although it is the studio’s debut project, it looks promising.

Pioner is set in a post-apocalyptic world. Players can explore the world, build things, and test their survival skills against the harsh environment. The story takes place on an island that ended up isolated from the rest of the country. With a large-scale technogenic anomaly to blame and scarce resources available to you, you get to rescue your friends and investigate the “Burial Ground” station.

Pioner features both PvE and PvP modes. In PvE mode, you will be set on a quest to explore underground labs fighting mutants and whatnot. In PvP mode, you will find yourself fighting against other players in Empty Lands, a zone with valuable loot and many death traps.

Embers Adrift

Do you love the medieval theme and MMOs? If you do, the chances are that you will fall in love with Embers Adrift, an MMORPG set in a medieval world focused on PvE. The game was formerly known as Saga of Lucimia. Today it is under development by Stormhaven Studios and goes under the new name. It is scheduled for release in 2022.

Embers Adrift delivers a sandbox environment which is quite refreshing given that most MMOs feature quests and zones locked behind a character level and experience. In Embers Adrift, you get to experience the open world at your own pace, completely circumventing the dull element of quest hubs.

Embers Adrift has this old-school vibe like EverQuest, Star Wars Galaxies, Ultima Online, and others. Nevertheless, the team of developers aims to make this game engaging and attractive to all demographics. Currently, the game is only available to alpha testers who pre-ordered the game. However, the creators have reported successful alpha testing, giving more hope that the development will not take longer than expected.

The information about the game is still scarce. Still, Elloa, the community manager at Stormhaven Studios, made a post telling interested players that they will disclose a lot more information soon. There is nothing more for you to do but wait to see how Embers Adrift looks and feels.

Lost Ark

Lost Ark is not a brand-new MMORPG. Players in Korea, Russia, and Japan had the privilege to play it. Although some North American and European players used a VPN to access and play it safely, Lost Ark is still not officially released for players in Europe and North America. In fact, you can continue playing it after masking your IP address with a VPN for PC. At least until the game fully releases in your region sometime in 2022.

Lost Ark is an MMORPG developed for the Windows platform. Players join forces fighting against Kazeros and his demon forces, but the game also features an amazing story and engaging end game. You will be thrilled to find out that Lost Ark PvP is a real thing, and you will get the chance to prove your worth in the PvP arena.

Lost Ark enables players to choose from unique and iconic classes. Players have access to the system unique to Lost Ark called Tripod. This system will help you identify and select the most attractive combat style for your character, whether you’ve picked warrior, mage, assassin, gunner, or martial artist.

Every class can progress into several different specialized classes, each one featuring unique skills and progression systems. The game has a very diverse end game to keep you occupied. It includes chaos dungeons, daily/weekly raids, void dungeons, and raids.
