I was just saying the other day that there aren't enough cart MMOs.
American McGee has announced a cart MMO that is going to be published in China and then the world. The only thing they are missing in that equation is a way to publish it to the world, China they have figured out. All I can picture is a Mario Kart MMO, but let's find out more from Shacknews:
"It's the first Chinese cart racing game developed with an authentic and original Chinese art style, set in real-world locations, and featuring some of the funkiest racing vehicle designs the world has ever seen," wrote McGee...It also promises "strong narrative backbone and emotional drama" as part of the MMO-esque experience.
"We've crafted a solid Game Design Document, Technical Design Document, Art Bible, Visual Target Demo, and Development Plan," explained McGee, which in essence means the game is completely designed--on paper. The racer has a publisher in China but McGee is going public to find a publisher for the rest of the world.
Wait, didn't I just hear about more narrative driven games in today's Loading... when Ethec was talking about some of the primary coolness in the new Star Wars MMO? That isn't the only differentiator, there are a host of other ideas that highlight what makes the cart racing MMO different in American McGee's blog.
