Everquest II opens the experience flood gates.

In what seems to be a welcome movement in the industry, the grind is being taken out of leveling across the board. Everquest II has already announced the experience acceleration changes in game update 49:

"While players are mentoring a lower level friend or guildmate, they will now receive more achievement experience than they did before. Additionally, the larger the gap in levels, the more exp you can get! If you are mentoring a friend 51 or more levels below you, you will earn a 300% bonus to your achievement experience gained through combat or loot items. You will also receive the bonus whether your apprentice has their combat exp enabled or not."

Now they are offering a double xp weekend. From the Station Players announcement:

"With all these changes coming, we've got one more surprise in store! This weekend, September 26-29, there will be the first EVER double experience weekend! It'll be a good time to break out those dusty alts and stretch their legs!"

If you have wanted to level up that class the guild needs, now looks to be the time to fire it up. For additional information, stop by EQ2Players news. What do you make of this current trend, and more importantly, what do you think they will do next? I've got my ideas, come share yours in our forum.
