GearScore is better than iLevel - Reason #3

on Jul 01, 2011

<p>AIL is not designed for use in Pugs. Its only purpose is to show you how far off you are from being eligible for specific heroic dungeons. Now that pugging is viable in wow, I'm beginning my crusade against AIL. Read more to find out just how superior

Well... I'm back again... and that is because there are just SO MANY damn reasons why GearScore outclasses AIL in every way.

GearScore makes sure the item being used is useful to the class who is wearing it. If you look at the screenshot below the GearScore on the Assasin's Chestplate is over 50% less GearScore then the Kilt of Trollish Dreams. However, what do you know? The Item Level is exactly the same! Even worse, the player doesn't actually have to wear this to increase their AIL. They can simply leave it in their backpack and receive the bonus.

Would you want to take an elemental shaman along with you, if he was wearing the Assassin's Chestplate? Of course not! So stop using AIL and use PlayerScore to check a player's GearScore.
